To the 2 people that have this installed already... (Jackson and Drheem) is there much trouble putting the power down? I see the jackson car still has stock wheels.. what about tires?
And, what's highway cruising like? My RPM's are usually right at 3k when I'm on the highway, and that is into the superchargers boost range. Does the extra power have you cruising at a lower RPM?
I'm sure you're going to want grippier tires with the extra power even if you keep the stock rims.

Highway cruising RPM's are going to be the same as long as you go the same speed. No matter how much power you have..

Thanks,
I kind of like the stock rims, unfortunately... I wish they were wider, but I hope I can get decent performance out of them. I can change them if I need, though.

And yeah, I wasn't thinking my RPM thing through.. that's a function of mechanical gearing, etc... I guess more power in this example (cruising on the highway) just means not having to downshift as much to maintain speed on the hills. It looks like it doesn't add much down at 3000rpm, so it's not burning much more fuel than stock.

Get you a set of the Nitto Neogens or some Continental Extreme Contacts in a 205/50ZR-16 and I'm sure you'll be fine with the stock rims.

Downshifting will probably only be to 5th or 4th instead of the 4th or 3rd some people are reporting.

I actually find myself using eco in the freeway more often now and average speed around 65-70mph which was
unbearable before the supercharger since it pretty much felt like i was flooring the car. For me Eco
mode with the supercharge feels like how the car was in standard mode in the freeway going about 65-70mph.

I loose traction with my conti dws 205/50zr16 on my mf10s.

If you have any electrical knowledge, ie splicing/capping/soldering, you may want to try. However if you haven't, it is really quite daunting when you open up the dash and see all the wires on an ecu and know that you can really F something up if you didn't get everything right and start the car...
Even if I had to, that's the part I'd be least worried about. I did a two-year electronics course at the tech school parallel to high school, and worked a part-time job where I wrote code to test car dashboard circuit boards as they came off assembly lines. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I think I'm going to start with a less ambitious project, and order the OEM CR-Z armrest to install myself. We'll see how that goes, and then I'll progress to the supercharger.

Does the tuned system retain the same stock throttle mapping for each mode? I know jackson doesnt want the big "secret" tune released but I figure they could at least answer that.
Throttle mapping is unchanged in all three modes. In order for the kit to be certified emissions legal, the calibration cannot be modified by the end user. No secrets.

I've had the first blower (roots) on my civic and the rotrex on this one. Both sounds are distinct, and yeah what Item9 said. I actually asked that same question and to pass CARB the air had to be circulated.

The rotrex superchager seemed to keep its torque up in higher rpms better than the roots one.

I think this centrifugal is perfect for our car... we've got the low end torque from the electric motor. It's not boosting down low like a roots would, so we keep our fuel economy down there. Then when we want to have fun and push it, the power just keeps growing!

Did you see my build thread? I posted pics of the install there. I go in for tuning on Thursday morning and to the dragstrip that night...

Here's a link to the install pics:
Interested to see the time as well. I'm
thinking low 15's, it would be great to break 14s but good to see the actuall time. My civic was continuously 15.1 but I never really was able to get traction on the launch with stock tires. Are you running different tires?

Yes. I'm running 235/40R17 up front, but they aren't anything particularly sticky. I got these tires to experiment with the wider tread and not spend too much in case they were a poor fit. I get no rubbing with them, so I probably want to get something more aggressive in that size sometime soon.

For those of us (me) who are interested in this but may or may not be completely new to modding/working on cars.. can someone talk about how hard this install would be to try on your own with little experience as well as how much it might cost to have it done elsewhere?
