Does anyone happen to have the technical service bulletin PDF for the recall? I have the Acura iN network but not Honda's :frown2:
Why do you need this? Go to the site posted to prove if or if not yours has been done. If it has not been done get it on the list. Airbags(inflators) have to be ordered by VIN some dealers are not doing this but most are.

Interested in how Honda says to do their airbag for the CR-Z versus the ones I do at Acura. I think our inflators only have one harness clip going into them, and all the ones I've seen here are two. Something to have, I guess.

Checking to see if the recall was in fact done, too. Since they said the car was kept up maintenance wise and it wasn't

The notice sent to us owners did not say how to do it or anything like what you are looking for just that there was a recall. Federally mandated language.

For all those who have yet to take your car in and need motivation, or want to know how the airbags perform after the recall, see below.

Crash occurred at 40 mph when another driver turned left in front of my wife while she had a green light. Fortunately she walked away with just a minor concussion, bruises and muscular pain associated with whiplash. Happy the car performed as intended. Just thought I would share. We will miss our Z.

Why not replace it with another one? There are still a few left over brand new 2016s and 15s available at some dealers. 0:) Glad to see you walked away from it and the car gave its life so you have yours.:smile2:

As unfortunate as this may be, you could always part the vehicle out of what remains undamaged for a little extra cash on the side unless the junk heap already bought it out.

But glad your wife made it out with only minor injuries.
I give her best wishes on a speedy recovery :)

....+1 for the crumple effect. ....
Interesting bit of trivia: see how the hood's folded, the rear corner acting as a hinge point? Cars now have those hooks on the back side of the hood because another Honda back in the seventies, along with everything else being made, didn't have those. A grisly fatality from the back edge of the hood knifing through the windshield brought about the design change.

I appreciate the kind words from everyone. While it is true we both loved the car, especially my wife, we decided to get something with a back seat.

The CRZ is a great car, but practical for a family it is not. To those interested, the repairs were estimated at just under $19k.

Additional photos of when we parted ways for the last time...

Got my 2011 cr z back from dealership(not the dealership i purchased the car from)for cvt fluid and filter change, they installed the takata replacement while there. They never changed the cvt filter like I requested and seemed to not know it existed. Also, they scratched up my steering wheel trim, horn does not work as before the install and my steering wheel is off center slightly to the right while driving straight down the road. The allignment seems fine(get allighnments every other oil change at a trusted mechanic)but while driving straight the wheel/the H is off to the right slightly. The steering feels sketchy is the only way to describe it. When I talked to the service manager about the condition my car was returned to me he seemed to think I was making false claims. He told me he would talk to the "district service manager" about my trim scratches and said they do not remove the steering wheel during the airbag install so the steering being off center is not their fault.the fact is my car had none of these issues when I dropped it off and now I feel like I am getting screwed when really I should be getting this repaired. Anybody have an opinion on the steering wheel being off? I am concerned they didn't install the replacement correctly given their complete lack of regard to my property while in their possession. He didn't offer to look it over/drive it to check steering or anything just took pics of the scratches and sent me on my way. Now I have to pay to get the fluid changed again and filter replaced. And my steering wheel is off center. Anybody have any input on this?

They don't have to remove the steering wheel from its hub to replace the air bag, so that's the only thing the service manager said that was correct. However, if they also did a wheel alignment at the same time, it could have thrown the steering wheel off-center, and should have been corrected (unless you had it aligned elsewhere.) If you want them to change the in-line CVT fluid filter, they might not have the part on hand, so check with their parts department and note to them that it's NOT in the CVT section, but in the radiator/cooling section of the parts listings. In fact, here's the part number for you: 25430-PLR-003.

Just talked to my case manager and was told that there was no way they could have damaged the trim during install. He referred me to the technical service bulletin instructions that the mechanics use for install to somehow convince me that the process wouldn't result in damage to my trim. They offered me $150 gift card for future service. What an insult. I just want my car returned in the same condition as I dropped it off.

I'd like to see that service bulletin of instructions, because it NEEDS TO BE APPENDED to caution not to rest the air bag assembly on the steering column/trim while routing the wire/connectors through the steering wheel holes to free them and clear the entire assembly from the steering column. The bottom of that assembly has sharp metal edges that can easily scratch the trim even if you gently rest the assembly against/on the trim while pulling out the rest of the wiring from the hub.

Just for anyone who wants it he directed me to "technical service bulletin 16-016" just Google it and it will pop up.
Yeah, but not exactly what I was looking for...Thought there would be a step-by-step process that the mechanics should follow for replacing the air bag.
