Hey Item 9. can you detail what each of the ports on the CRZ nav unit are. I have an EX CRZ without nav and am researching putting the factory nav in it. I can count and account for some of the connections but there is one large connection that its missing.

hi,
i have bought head unit (honda ssd nav 08A40-2N6-400),
now, i'm stick in connecting rear camera,
the unit didn't get any aftermarket camera,
what i tried to connect,
i've used pinouts from right to left:
1-power +
2-power-
4-video signal shield
5-video signal
7-reverse gear signal (backlight signal)

no response, no switching of the screen,

now i've searched for it's factory camera,
(originally unit was on crz,
but, as i found it fits many honda models:civic,crz,crv,fit,insight... 2009 and onwards ),
and i found, what factory camera costs a lot ( around $550),

now i need to know, can you advice any solution to connect it to my 2008 crv,
or i should get rid of it?

my email:

awaiting your answer,
thanks

The image below pretty much sums up the pinout that I that used:

It looks like there are some things that are different between what we are doing. Position 7 is not a reverse gear signal; it's something else, but I'm not sure what. It's just called CAMERA ADPT and that all I know about it. Also, position 4 is the "video signal ground" where you have it as the "video signal shield". I'm guessing you probably using it as the video signal ground anyways, but I'm just pointing it out. Other than those issues, I don't know what else to say. I would guess that the pinouts might be the same across all models of Honda navs, but it's not impossible that they might not be....

Also, the issue might be that it can only work with a Honda camera or at least the type of camera that they are using. I don't know enough about the Honda camera to tell you anything though... It might have something to do with that CAMERA ADPT wire.

You can find a service manual for sale in this post, "includes 2 volume mechanical/electrical books and the body repair manual," but I'd like to get the body repair manual for myself, if he's selling them separately :) :

There's also a link to a download, if you do a search....:grin2:

Hi all,
I connected my OEM Honda rear camera in my CRV 2007 this way:

1-power + (12V only on revers gear)
2-power-

4-video signal GND
5-video signal

7-connected to aftermarket Chinese Android brown wire

I do have 0.3V on my camera RCA jack when I put my reverse gear but I do not see anything on my stereo.
There is one wire left marked as CAMERA SHIELD I didn't connect.

Any idea?

Thanks

Shields are usually grounds to protect from external signals.
Try grounding that wire but in this scenario I am not sure.

Thanks Spdbump,

FINALLY SORTED fro 2007 Honda CRV EX-L

As you can see on the image:

1 (Green) -power + (12V only on revers gear) - I connected this wire also to Chinese stereo on wire REVERSE (or sometimes BACK) in my case BROWN wire
2 (White) -power-
3 NC
4 (Red) -video signal GND
5 (Black) -video signal
6 (Gray) No need to connect
7 (Brown) No need to connect

This works for 100%

Shield was a ground? Glad I could help.

So, where would you put a switch to turn on the camera out of reverse?
On my original stereo was Black harness with white inside. I do not know what it actually is for but on Black wire is GND, on orange is +12v all the time and on the brow is +12V when I put revers gear on so I used that for my camera.

But if you haven't got OEM camera just connect it to your reversing lights. It works the same way.

Spdbump I'm happy you've tried to help. I was looking for help on few forums and on many of them is nobody to even try. Thanks again.

I'd like to be able to turn on the camera any time. And I'd love to find the place to feed in a DVD player.

Oh, and a trip to Paris. The one in France, none of this Texas crap. Just in case the wish fairy is logged-on.
If you've got the same harness just connect it to the orange wire and add an extra switch. You'll be able to have it on all the time or switch it ON and OFF as you like.:|

Hello Idon, I'm attempting to hook up my stock camera to a chinese Android stereo, similar to what I believe you did. Can you please clarify:

GREEN (wire to BROWN "backup" wire on stereo)
WHITE ( do I run +12v to this?)

RED (is this video signal +?)
BLACK (is this video signal -?)

Is the above correct? Are any other wires involved? I believe i tried this exactly as shown but got no results. I have a bare wire RCA cable like the one below attaching to the video in on my chinese stereo. Thank you for your help, I feel like I'm very close here. I too have a 2007 CRV EX-L (formerly with OEM nav unit).
