Since I do music for a living, it only makes sense to have a killer audio system. Here's whats going in:

Dynamat Xtreme on floor, roof and doors
Dynaliner on floor
Focal KRX3 3 way speakers. Woofers in the doors, midrange and tweets in custom pillars
JL Audio 10W6v3-D4 in custom box in the rear "seats"
JL Audio HD Series HD900/5 Amp, JL Audio XD200/2v2 Amp
Helix DSP 8-channel digital signal processor

This is going to be an Active system which means each speaker is wired directly to an individual channel on the amp. The Helix DSP will take care of all the crossover points, 30 band EQ and time alignment

All the interior is out!

Dynamat on the roof

*Update 2-3-15
Focal speakers came in today!

Dynamat going on the floor

That's what's up! How much is all this running you? I want to upgrade my sound system too with some door speakers. I'm currently just using two ancient 10" MTX subs hooked up to a alpine mono amp for some extra bass, but I'm seriously considering taking them out because the box takes up all my cargo space. I would be scared to tear up my car like you though lol

I just want something with nice clarity while still feeling some base you know what I mean ?

Its coming together. Dynamat and Dynaliner is all done. Two layers of dynamat are in the doors with dynaliner in between. One layer of dynamat with dynaliner on the floor as well as a layer of dynamat on the roof. It required two full kits of dynamat extreme to do. Closing the door gives a resounding "thud" when you close it, much like in a luxury car.

The 6.5's woofers went in without too much modification.

The custom sub box is nearing completion and will house the JL 10" W6 as well as the amp.

The hardest part has been the pillars. Not much space to work in. We're using the existing pillars and molding on to it to house the mids and tweets.

The look I'm going for is stock but custom. Everything will look like its supposed to be there and not just bolted on. Tons of work (and $$$) but I feel it will totally be worth it.

Its also cool to note that Im adding a usb interface that plugs directly to the Helix DSP, which will allow me to plug a laptop or iPhone, or anything else usb allowing me to bypass the stock head unit and its usb interface altogether.

I'm an audio engineer so I think it will be really cool to plug my laptop in and run Pro Tools in my car!

JL XD 200/2v2 under the drivers seat which is powering the door woofers

Helix DSP under the passenger side, which is the brain of this system. Its doing all the crossovers and tuning. I can plug a laptop in and tune the whole system. It also has an extra digital input which I'm using a Peachtree Audio X1 24/192 USB to to Spidf. Basically means I can plug my laptop in and my use my car audio system like a rolling mobile studio....Pretty sweet!

The system is finally done! It sounds incredible and the stereo image is awesome! Vocals seem to come out of the center and you can really hear instruments in the left and right sound stage. Its as if you listening in the sweet spot/listening position in a recording studio. This is achieved with the Helix DSP doing time alignment on the speakers such that the left and right hit your ears in the driving position at the same time.

Its not incredibly bass heavy, I wasn't going for that kind of build. Its incredibly clear and haven't experienced anything quite like it an a car.

I record live bands, compose, and pretty much involve myself in everything that is music. To hear in my car, what I hear in a studio, its amazing. Something you have to experience....

Literally the same as if I was in the sweet spot in the studio. Imagine listening to a band on stage and you can hear everything coming from a different spot. It's like that. Only you can control the volume, bass.

Right now I'm running the JL powered 10in sub with 400watts. I want to upgrade to the w6 or w7 10in. one of these days, but the rep at Crutchfield told me that this was the most power I can get out of the CRZ. Can someone please explain to me how I can upgrade to a w6 or w7 for my CRZ? Sorry for the noob question.
