I know this is late, but I just wanted to "floss" mine.

Did bronze, then hand painted "HONDA" white.

I also have a blue oil cap with a custom carbon fiber center.

I think the two go together nicely.

As well as match the car.

Here is a close up of mine that I did a while back ago. The second picture shows the similarities/differences between the paint I chose and the stock ssm paint of the car. You can't tell from the picture but the top half of the cover is speckled.

Anyone tried any of the plethora of colors from the model car spray paints from Testors? I'm wondering if it is durable enough for this application....it definitely works with plastics.

Can i use a normal spray can for this? and is there any document how to take of the plastic cover?

Just pull upward on the plastic manifold cover. It just chilling the by numbs. No screws or bolts. It like majority of the parts on the car, clipped in.

i want to paint the rising sun on it so, can it be done with a normal spray like montana spray cans?

when i did both of my versions, i primed with a high heat primer then used krylon. no problems since i've done it.

Just painted my engine cover gold last night, it's the only color of spray paint we had around, but I think it works

Did 2 coats of primer, 3 of gold, and 3 of clear.

I like the idea of red crinkel with a Fit red crinkel Intake manifold - think you would have to buy the manifold already painted though.

Will brake caliper paint be ok? It says it withstands up to 500 degrees (intermittently). Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I wanted to know.

Caliper paint will work fine as long as you suff then clean surface before hand as proper paint prep. work.

The intake manifold is plastic as well as the cover so neither get as hot as an engine block or metal intake manifold would. On that note, caliper paint is not a necessity but it is just as functional.

What color are you planning on painting it? I got the Fit manifold and hit it with a couple layers of VHT Anodized Base Silver Color so the yellow I put over it would seem a bit brighter and the black would be easier to mask.

If you’re going to paint it a bright color, it’s a good idea to put down a base coat of some sort.
