Auto Stop Issue - Stop and Start Loop

I have 2011 JDM AT CRZ ZF1.
Recently i noted that auto stop is not working as expected.
When I brake and stop, the idle stop kicks in and stop the engine as expected, then it starts again at the same time, less than 1 or 2 seconds. After this stop start loop happens for 3 4 times then it stays started. My hybrid battery holds the charge and gives assist good. I tried this even when the hybrid battery is fully charged but still the same. 12v battery was replaced 6 months ago. No fault codes when I did a scan.

Please advice. I love the auto stop feature.

Hi, I found the root cause while I was checking with AC off. I noticed that restart loop does not happen when I push the brake paddle very very hard 😊. So i looked down the brake paddle. Thanks for encouraging me.

Root cause - There was a break light issue and it was fixed during the last car service from a local store. I thought they had replaced a light bulb so didn't care. But what they had actually done was fixing some knows to brake light switch and abs switch in brake paddle:).

I drove home Mr Zed today. I noticed that it did do the engine off at traffic lights but I also noticed that the slightest movement of my foot on the brake pedal would start the car up again.

Personally, I'm not big on this engine shut off at lights idea. You're working the starter more than it would normally be used. It's just something else to fail.

It's using the IMA battery to start, the conventional starter is only used when it is very cold and or IMA is depleted. The auto stop is the main fuel saver on the car! Many vehicles use Auto stop now, some even use the conventional starter in a conventional car.

If Auto stop kills the IMA system, then you have a CR-Z with bigger issues! All CR-Zs work this way and it is deigned for this use and to last a long time. We have had maybe 5 IMA Battery failures and even fewer IMA motor generator failures, but @PeterPerkins can explain the system and allay your concerns better than I can.

Okay. Good to know. I really like the car but i can't get to attached as it will be my son's once he has his license.

I'm considering looking for a zed now in good nick but with a broken motor as I have ideas for it for a sleeper.
