Power is one thing. Where in the rev band it gets put to the ground, torque, weight, and traction are all important. You cannot just single out one statistic. Whether or not the other driver was trying, would be the biggest factor, though!

Here's the head-to-head comparison for the stock CR-Z to the VT.

CR-Z vs Veloster Turbo

In stock form, the Hyundai holds all the marbles except for weight and braking distance. By quite a bit.
Well, looks notwithstanding!

By adding +/- 40HP and 40Lb Ft of twist will definitely even things out a lot. But I don't know if it would be enough (this coming from another supechaged Z driver).
We just have to face the facts that our car is slow ... :pat:
 
I raced a normal stock veloster vs my cr-z with gutted interior sparco seats for more weight reduction full cat back exhaust, intake and i barely beat him considering he had another passenger with him and a set of wheels on the back of his. I would have lost LOL
