Thanks for the advice. I'll probably take it in next week...is there a chance that a local mechanic could work on it rather than a Honda dealer? This is my first hybrid so I'm a little lost about service.

I'm the mean time my bike is getting a good bit of use as well as the city public transport.

Being a 2011 it may still have IMA system warranty left. Get it to the dealer ASAP every day you wait is another day gone on the warranty. The warranty I believe is 8 Years 80K miles if Originally purchased/registered in a non CARB state longer if a CARB state . Dealer should diagnose and tell you.

Apparently the IMA warranty is only good for 3/36000 in Texas...
Was yours purchased originally in TX? The IMA warranty is based on state first registered and the warranty book has a URL you need to go to figure out if it is a CARB state or a non CARB and the exact coverages. My selling dealer was clueless on the IMA warranty I had to ask and they still gave me the wrong information. I had to read my book.

Double check as dealers would rather have you pay then get reimbursed from Honda.

Mileage is right around 62,000...my non-powertrain warranty was good up to 59,978 (I know). When I called the Honda care 800 number they asked for my VIN and I was told that in Texas, where the car was originally purchased, the IMA system warranty was only good for 3 years- everything else I've seen says at least 8/80,000.

Not really sure where to go from here. Should I contact some state office...I guess TXDOT or something, to see if they know the laws? What a pain in the ass
Go online to the web site from your warranty book. Print out the warranty for the IMA. Highlight the right information. Go to dealer talk to manager. If you have to refer the Honda representatives at Honda care to the same document. Rinse repeat going up to higher and higher people till the issue is fixed.

Ok, picking my car up tomorrow. I was assigned a case manager with Honda, gave them my sob story and got the price knocked down to $133. That's something I can live with. Also I didn't have to be a total dick to anyone (not my style). Thanks everyone for your help and advice!
You do not have to be a dick. Just stand up for your rights. But if you are happy with the solution then ok. The case manager may in the future affect a refund.
