Not sure if that is true..

Smaller rim = less unsprung weight, less inertia, lighter tires.

Take F1 for instance...the rims is just big enough to clear the brakes.
I don't see them putting on 20 inchers.

Big is for bling.

Jup its mostly for the bling, but what about stability issues?

lighter is the main key for me

ps: You don't have to buy a CR-Z for its performance

Stability? Small rims don't mean less in width if that is what your referring to.
You can go as wide as you can. For street..i would go 215's.

Anyone know the offset of the 16inch and 17inch?

Tire brand: Bridgestone

This is EDM spec but I expect no difference to the USDM models.
