What did you do to the 'Z today?

So other car forums I've been on have had a thread where you can go and post up a brief description and a couple of pics of something you did to your car today. Since we don't have one on here(neither Google or I were able to find one) I decided to try and start one.

Ran power and ground wires for my amp tonight. Power was a pain to get through the firewall, but I ended up using the OEM grommet behind the fan on the passenger side footwell. Tucked all the wire away and at first glance you probably wouldn't even notice it which is just the way I like it.

Cabin air filter change. Was really filthy after 1 year. I was missing the outer panel that closes off the cabin filter at the rear of the glove box so grabbed one of those AND grabbed an OEM spare tire kit.

I have to figure out what size tire I need for it. It comes with a 16x4 tireless rim. Anyone know what Txxx/xx/xx temp tire I'll need for that?

Thinking a 135 or 125 like the ones below.

According to Hondapartsnow.com the "correct" temporary spare for the CR-Z is a 15x4 wheel w/ 135/80-15 tire. I can check what I have in my trunk when I get home tomorrow.

I bought the kit that hondapartsnow populated based on my car. When I look at #2 in the parts list it shows as a 16x4 but individually it shows discontinued...

I'll have to wait and see what it comes with and go from there. Would not make sense to have a 16" rim with any sidewall over 55.

When I plug in the part number for the one you showed me it says it's the wrong one based on my car.

I apologize, somehow I missed the part about yours being a 2016. For my 2015 I have a 135/90-15 temp. Your rear brakes are probably why it calls for a 16 inch spare. Regardless, you'll want a spare close to 135/75-16 or 135/80-16 to match the OEM wheel/tire diameter. If you do a "sidewall" measurement of only 55 on such a skinny tire it would literally just be a rubberband on that rim.

The place I ordered from just came back with "national backorder" and wont be shipping the tire kit. Going to have to get creative now.

Try a salvage yard, 5-bolt 16 inch Accord.

Installed the powerflex poly rear shock bushings and adjusted the preload on the rear.
Plus went for a spirited drive with my brother in his GTI. It's not even close to close in the straights but the Z catches up just fine in the corners. :) Either way, was great fun

Spent the afternoon yesterday chasing down a rough idle.

I do not have a vacuum leak that I can find. I pulled the coils, thy all look fine, I pulled the spark plugs. They looked good for 70K miles, But I opted to replace them.

So far, it seems better, but I wanna get more miles on it to make sure. I don't know if I need to get a tune done after installing a Takeda Momentum Air intake. My MAS is supper clean, the Air filter has been freshly cleaned and oiled.

The rough Idle was bad enough to notice, but not bad enough to throw a code. The wiper arms were shanking like crazy at a stop. With the car in or out of gear, with the AC compressor on or off.

I was going to do a break fluid Exchange, but Maryland weather is what it is, and a day I get out of the office, it rains. :cautious:

::Edit:: just took it out to do some errands, and yep, that Idle is still kinda rough, Not as bad as it was. I guess i should do a valve job, and then maybe look at replacing the Coils.

Any suggestions?

Mounted the Wedsports today.
Getting 225/45's after coilovers. Not a fan of the 205/45's.

Picked it up yesterday. Had the hatch hinge corrosion fixed at a body shop. Bought new hinges and had them do the rest. Pricier than cleaning it myself but lifetime warranty on the work so if it ever comes back they will take care of it. Also had the rear bumper resprayed as it was a little beat up when I bought it. Happy to have it checked off the list.

took it down to the Tail of the Dragon last week for some fun driving. Managed to catch some drywall on the interstate on the way down there. put a new chip in the windshield and cracked the driver's mirror housing.

Would have been way worse, it was aimed straight for the windshield when it first flipped up, but I managed to brake and swerve enough to hit it slower and off the centerline.

the photographers down there got a nice pic from the good side lol.

Nice photo. And crap in the road is always the worst. Sorry about the damage, hope it gets mended soon.

Worked on more of the wrap some more this weekend, finished both rear quarter panels. No pictures just yet though.

Only the rear quarters and sideskirts are done so far. The car's a harlequin for now

Hybrid Racing cable bushings and boot collar, new negative cable from battery (old one looked a bit grubby), cleaned throttle body while the air box was out and a fresh air filter. Will be replacing the shifter housing with either oem or buddy club as I have both on hand just not sure which one I want to go with. Seen both good and bad reviews of the Buddy Club SS.

*edit: the shift cable bushings feel fantastic and it finds its gears much cleaner now.

The boot collar I'm not liking. It looks nice but it actually raises the height of the shift knob. I ordered an acuity hoping it will work without the height difference.

The inner threaded piece looks like it should thread down lower over the shift lever but mine isn't wide enough to fit over and bottoms out way too high. Shame cause I really like the look of it otherwise. Hopefully the Acuity piece will sit lower.

Got the Buddy Club SS in. Swapped over the bottom plastic cap from the oem shifter and hit all the contact areas with Honda's high temp urea grease. Greased the cables. Put in the Acuity solid base bushings and swapped over to the Acuity boot collar. No casualties or broken clips or lost hardware. Removing center console isn't too bad just went nice and slow. Would have done pics but had grease on my hands and it was enough just to focus on all the pieces coming out and getting everything cleaned up. Will take it out for a drive after rush hour dies down. Combined with the Hybrid Racing shift cable bushings initial feel is much more solid. New oem control arms are on the way from Impex Japan and will have the spoon rigid collars done with them. I don't think mine are too bad but everything else is new so figured I'd refresh those too.

Gave all the panels and metal underneath the console a good cleaning. The previous owner had a bunch of brown junk down there. Even took a brush cup to some of the brackets where there was some surface rust and sprayed it with PTFE WD40.

My flat fix is on its last legs (reinflating every 3 days) so I got 2 new tyres. Would've gone all 4 but the budget is tight as usual.

It was really tough to find oem sized rubber (195/55r16) that was in stock, met my standards, and fell within the budget. So I'm rolling the dice on a set of general G-Max all seasons @ 205/50r16.

I'll let y'all know what I think once I've broken em in and gotten a good feel for them.

This being said; anybody else notice a lot of the 195/55r16 tyres being discontinued without a replacement or was I just looking in the wrong places?

Not my current rolling stock but I've been pleased with Generals when I've had them.
