Where: US 129/The Dragon/Deals Gap
When: August 1st-4th 2013.
Lodging: Fontana Dam Village Resort (2 Cabins booked/paid)
NOTE: IF YOU ARE ATTENDING, WE WILL BE ON CHANNEL 8 ON THE WALKIE TALKIES.
Activities:
Thursday- Arrive date. I haven't decided what time im getting in yet. My friend and I will be going through Gatlinburg, TN and visiting a moonshine distillery and then going south through the back route to Fontana. We will more than likely swing by "The road to nowhere". (Google it, looks pretty interesting). Check in at Fontana is at 4. I usually stroll into robbinsville to get groceries for the week as well.
Friday- Wake up and get a morning run in. Hopefully I can get everyone together so we can get lunch. I read Lynn's place in robbinsville is pretty good or El Pacifico Mexican Restaurant so we could try one of those out! Afterwards drive some more.
Saturday- Everyone needs to be at the top of the Fontana dam by NOON! We will do a group photo shoot there.
After the photo shoot, we will be doing a big cherohala skyway cruise. This is around a 3-4 hour drive. Location E is where we start and end. We will travel down hwy 28 to 143, then 143 to US 129, and then left back on 143 (Cherohala Skyway). From there we will take 143 to ether 360 or 68 (Both lead to 411). When we get to Hwy 411, we can stop and eat dinner (There is a bunch of places to eat). After we eat we will take 411 to 72. (Item9's favorite road to unleash the white devil). We will take 72 back to US 129 (Dragon). And of course US 129 back to 28 to Fontana. Don't worry, we will stop at various points and take some pics!
After we get back we can hangout by the bonfire and hangout/chit chat if everyone is up to it.
Sunday- Check out is 11am so more than likely I will get up early and do one last run through the dragon, come back, check out and leave!

About the Where:What is the dragon run you ask? The Dragon is a stretch of hwy 129 going through the great smokey mountains of NC and TN. Its a very popular twisty road for motorcycles and car clubs to drive through. People from all over the world (Yes world) come here every year to drive these roads and I've heard there aren't many roads that can compare to US129. All you picture "whores" will especially love it because they're professional photographers on a majority of the twisty turns taking pictures. I've been going to the dragon for the last 3 years and always have a blast every time I go.

Last year me and a few other members from the forum all met there (Item9, B-rad, Klasse Act). See many photos and videos from the run here:

About the When: Me and some of the guys on here chatted and we've agreed to make this meet the first weekend of August. There will be a few car clubs driving down to the dragon this weekend and should be a great time.
About the Lodging: I've stayed at Fontana damn village the last 3 years and its a very nice place. They have a bunch of cabins and lodge rooms. If you want your own privacy you can get a Lodge room from $79 and up and if you dont mind staying with a few others then Cabins are generally $129 and up. Ill be reserving a cabin for that weekend so anyone wanting to stay there and chip in is more than welcome. We usually have about 4-5 guys/girls in a cabin so it makes for a very cheap vacation.

I encourage anyone and everyone who loves to drive...young/old, girl/guy, whoever to make it out this year. Last year had people from early 20's to late 40's and we all got along great, so don't feel like your excluded from joining the fun cause you think your old (Scotty)! Also all you folks living out way west have no excuse not to show up (Plus you have a 6 month heads up). Every year when I go people from all over show up. I've seen people drive multiple days to get there from Cali, Washington, Texas, Nevada and even Canada.
So that's about all I can think about for now. The date is set in stone but the activities are still up in the air. I'd like for all of us to go get lunch somewhere, maybe visit a brewery or distillery (Moonshine! Lol)....I'm up for ideas. We will also do a group photo shoot probably on that saturday. Ill be posting more stuff up on this post as I think of new things.
