So I'm going to resurrect this thread for some input: What is the advantage of using one of these circuit taps over splicing onto one of these unused circuits and putting a fuse in the box? is it just to save some work?
Yes to save some work as its kind of pain to get to the back of the fuse box, keeps the OEM wiring in-tact/untampered with and can be replaced or removed more quickly.

If one wants to do the work and solder in a connection at the backside of the fuse box one can certainly do that as well.

Finally got under there and looked at how hard it would be to get the fuse box down....yea, I'll just use a fuse tap.
