So last weekend I was under the car having a look at the under side when I noticed the springs on my car where looking rather worse for where and quite rusty. I had been toying with the idea of changing the springs anyway to coilovers as when I got the car the previous owner had lowered it with Swift springs by 35/40mm. Now, as much as I love the look and the stability these springs give the car in the corners it is very harsh and some what crashy when just driving along. I often find myself trying to dodge around alot of pot holes over here in the UK and have on many occasion had the rear wheels bash up into the wheel arches - Not a pleasant experience!
Having been looking around at the various options I do like idea of the Basis Z's as it will give me the flexibility of being able to adjust the ride height (fairly) easily, but without them being over complicated with dampening, camber, etc. Having looked into the spring rates could someone tell me if they think it will make the car ride even firmer due to (in some cases) the spring rates being higher. See Below:
Stock Springs Front: 2.2kg / Stock Springs Rear: 3.4kg
Swift Springs Front: 2.6 kg / Swift Springs Rear: 4.2kg (currently fitted)
Tein Basis Coilovers Front: 3kg / Rear: 4kg
Also, when changing over to coilovers from a car that is already lowered are there likely to be any other parts that are required to be replaced? I know these particular coilovers re-use the existing top mounts which I understand was done on purpose to help reduce the manufacturing cost.
As always, any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.
