I changed my inner and outer tie rod today and when I took it off the out put shaft on the rack has play in it. The part that the inner tie rod screws on to. Wanted to know is if that was normal for these cars. I also get a clunk when I move the steering left to right when at park. 138000 miles 2011.

Yes, I thought it was just cause the tie rods were shot but it still is doing it. Prior to changing the pass side tie rods it did clink hitting small bumps but that has stopped. Only get clunk when moving steering wheel back and forth. The alignment guy told me the driver side tie rod has small play in it but it aligned fine. So maybe driver side is causing clunk now.

Unlike GM products, Honda doesn't just throw parts into a generalized area, kind of turn the bolts and call it good. If they put it in, it shouldn't be loose, especially in the steering and alignment gear. May be money well-spent to have a good local (not chain, not dealership) alignment shop give it a look.
