worst part is someone here on the forum bought the very last Energetic Yellow mugen wing and repainted it... like maybe a year ago?
It doesn't matter about the colour, the painted parts are only any good when the car is brand new. You can't put 10 year old parts on a weathered car as the colour match will be totally off taking account of the slight paint fade being outdoors for a decade.

I once bought Satin Silver aero parts for my Satin Silver EM2 Civic, didn't take into account the car was 15 years old and the parts were essentially brand new being stored in a box away from sunlight - the colour match was appalling and I had to take it to a body shop to get it blended to the bodywork.

that's why I painted the uprights black on the one sitting on a shelf in my garage. I knew the reds would be off, and it looks really good with black uprights and a body color wing.. and when they arent' RIGHT NEXT TO each other, you don't notice the difference in the reds.

Probably not the best time to start doubting the Mugen kit with most of it on the way, but that's exactly what I've been doing.

I've now had a number of people say it would be a shame to put the Mugen kit on it as it's such a lovely example as it is and I do agree with that. Something else that is souring the Mugen kit is the lack of availability of the front aero illumination which I really do feel I would need to solve before fitting it. I may end up keeping the Mugen kit for way down the line which sounds insane.

In other news, had a quick check to see if there was a carpet boot/trunk liner and can only see a part available in the US but not EU strangely

Took the Zed along to Costco for a leg stretch and got some shots. Taken on my iPhone 12 Pro Max with automatic settings. I will have to burst out my Sony NEX7 to get some proper photos.

E-mailed Preserve and Protect in Johnston who appear to carry out exceptional work underselling and doing cavity wax injections using Dinitrol products.

I have been quoted £840inc.VAT for the work - they are booked out until September which says it all about the quality of work this company do.

Cox replied the part is on back order until July and that it’s classed as a special order item which they won’t process unless the minimum order is £50. So because of that I picked up the genuine CR-Z floor mats too!

I meant to say, 26th of May I received an email from TDI North. My Mugen parts have arrived from Japan and they have managed to bag some form of aero illumination that's coming on the next shipment.

I have asked what part number they have managed to get exactly as I did enquire about the S660/NBox kit to see if my paint/bodyshop guy can look at how well they fit into the front aero. I will keep you up to date. @SkittyDoogle tagged as I know you are looking into the aero illumination issue too.

That is a minty zed! I think the colour is a bit like marmite, you love it or hate it. It looks more gold than yellow to me.

I'm hoping to pick up a 12 zed with 61k on it as a temp car/car for my son in Liverpool red.

I always loved the last gen of the crx back in the late 80's early 90's. The zed is certainly a homage to that styling.

Not sure what your friend at TDI North is on about with "one of the last LED lighting available" since the order system doesn't list it as out of production. Might just be gobbling your knob a bit. Regardless, I hope it fits! I'll be looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I'll likely be grabbing a set in the next few months to save until I can afford my aero kit too.

Thanks very much, always nice to get some positive feedback! What do you think about putting the Mugen kit on it? I have been having second thoughts on whether to go ahead with it as it does seem like a shame to tamper with such an amazing example! My thoughts is that it is all reversible (apart from the roof wing which requires drilling to the panel to attach)

I've actually had a lot of people say it is green, including my fiancee who absolutely loathes the car and when asked for a reason why she barked 'IT'S LIME GREEN!' 😄

The zed is certainly a homage to that styling.
It's no secret the similarities in the designs, even down to the little dashboard-top mounted sunglasses/cubby box.

Thanks man! The order system isn't 100% accurate at all times as some bits are actually on back order for months that are listed as in stock. I am going to hazard a guess it's the S660/Nbox kit. Of course, I'll let you all know as soon as I find out.

I wouldn't necessarily believe TDI's email. I've been told that a specific seat was just not available without proof of ownership of a Mugen RZ, but messaging my favorite exporter directly in Japan told me he could pick one up no questions asked. In my experience with Mugen I could get whatever they had on hand immediately.

I've read that one loads of times and it seems completely bogus. They charge so much for the parts they can't seriously expect to sell that many it damages the appeal/prestige of the RZ.

That being said, you could look at buying a J's Racing carbon fiber wing. It's adjustable and it looks really cool. The guy I use can easily acquire it, and right now the exchange rate from USD to JPY is pretty good so you could save a decent bit of cash.

Thanks @SkittyDoogle but that’s not my thing at all. I’ve always been all about OEM+ and the only reason I can stretch to a Mugen kit is their strong connection with Honda themselves and the fact Honda officially released Mugen kitted CRZs under their name.

Seems odd to say but I just like the subtle classier look with parts. For example, the RexxStyling kit makes me sick and the thought of non-Honda wheels too 😂.

Yeah...😂

I'm a little worried to see if the rest of my order is actually correct now!

I recommend not talking to them anymore if they screwed it up that bad. If I didn't tell you who I buy from already just shoot me a message I'll tell you who to buy from and how to order everything. The prices will be much better and your order will be confirmed BEFORE you pay. I've dealt with a lot of brain dead retailers here in the US and I'm sick of it.

Thanks Skitty, you have indeed forwarded your contact before. I do have hope because I have my order form with the exact part numbers that were ordered on it so it can’t have gone too wrong. TDI are known in the UK for their high quality Honda builds and are one of the main go to places to have work carried out and tuning. I think this was an oversight, just a very embarrassing one 😬. Speak soon everyone.
