Good day,

I have a 2011 6M and I need to replace the left rear caliper. My question is with regard to the brake cable that is attached. Is there anything special that I have to do for the disassembly/reassembly? I replaced the pads recently, but must have nicked one of the seals and did not notice until this weekend. Anyhow, thank you for the help.

to remove the parking brake cable, first thing is to make sure the brake isn't set.

Then the lug nut wrench goes on the hex shaft of the parking brake pivot and you loosen it by turning towards the front of the car. Then it slips off the tang and you gently release the hex shaft.

Take the parking brake off to release the tension in the cable and push the spring in then use some pliers to pull the cable off the tang.
When I swapped my brake pads I found it easier to disconnect the caliper then unclip the parking brake cable. Then the reverse to refit. Connect the parking brake then re-attach the caliper.
