I was finally able to source a RB0 for a scrap yard for around $60NZD which is pretty good as a second hand RB1 from Strong for Honda would have set me back $225NZD 💀. When removing/installing the manifold I highly recommend removing the windscreen cowl as it gives more access to behind the manifold cause there are 2 10mm screws that hold the manifold in place from behind and it also saves your hand from getting cut up, I learnt the hard way.
The biggest difference wit’s the RB0 and RB1 is that it’s not a direct bolt on so I had to port (sand) the inside to make the holes a lot bigger. When comparing the stock Z manifold to the RB0 you can tell the holes are significantly smaller. Also you’ll have an extra bold left over when installing the new manifold. Don‘t stress about it.
I’ve had the manifold on for the past 3 days and I’m so happy with the results. The car honestly does behave different and feels a lot smoother to drive. I have the Takeda intake installed as well as a muffler delete so my car was already pretty loud and had nice pops, but I hated reving past 3500 cause the sound that came from the engine bay was horrible as it sounded like that car was crying lol, but after the manifold swap everything felt so smooth, the low end was increased by a bit, the mid range changed massively and it could hold itself as a high rpm level. The sound the car makes also changed and is a lot deeper, aggressive and pops a lot more and louder, and importantly doesn’t have that annoying crying sound.
I won’t be putting my car on a dyno anytime soon as I wanna do more before I get a tune. But if you want a easy cheap mod you can do at home I highly recommend it as it’ll put the phattest smile on your face after.
Atm I’m looking for a Tegiwa or supercircuit header so if anyones selling cheap lemme know plz. Thanks
