i ordered "genuine" honda touch up paint online for my PWP. every other car i've owned my touch-up has come in one applicator. the stuff i got for the CR-Z came in two tubes, a base coat and a top coat. the base coat is pure white and the top coat is a very light milky color with a shimmer. is this correct or should i be pissed?

I've never encountered it. The PMM Accord and LL Mustang both had metal flakes as well, but neither were in separate tubes, and they were both genuine as well.

Did it (touch up paint) come with instructions? I just did a quick google and everyone is advertising a one applicator with brush.

But maybe what you have is a more quality product or for a different application?

Interesting. Switch the selection to PWP. It increases in price, and the part number looks more like two parts. I suppose that PWP is a two coat touch up. I've never seen this before.

Also, I'll have to check my receipt,but I think I got it from Bernardi.

Edit: I got it on ebay from the seller "yourhondaparts". It wasn't Bernardi, but it was another dealership, I forget who though. Also, I looked in his store, and he has every CR-Z part collegehillshonda has, but even cheaper. He did however bump up the pricing on the touch-up paint. I got mine for $8 shipped, it's now $15 shipped.

Edit again: some additional googling turned up more stuff. You can get it as a one coat, two coat, or three coat system. The one coat appears to be for PWP Acura's, the two coat is genuine Honda, and the three coat (base, mid, top) is an aftermarket version.

i've done a lot of touch ups before. mine never came out perfect, but close to. close enough that the dealer never notices a thing when i trade my car in. if you have a scratch, use the pen attachment and fill in that way. if you have a chip, apply the paint in one direction. try to get it to really fill the hole, be generous with the paint, but don't go over the edges of the hole. once the paint dries it will shrink which is why i say to use more than enough to fill the hole. after it is dry, wet sand it VERY gently with a VERY fine grit paper, and try not to sand anything but the chip and the very edges, no need to sand good factory paint.

i forget the grits. for some reason 1800 to 2000 is coming to mind, like REALLY fine. i've never had them come out perfect though, just good enough that you can't see it unless you get close up to it. i wouldn't use anything but the touch up paint. i believe they are intended to be all of the coats you need.
