'i bet its gone back in time by 1024 weeks'...
Also a great observation.

Two competing theories, both valid. Maybe we are seeing a difference between UK and US Nav units?

Seems not everyone is seeing the May date but everyone seems to be getting the 2002 date.

But if it is a 32bit integer going negative then 2002 doesn't make sense. Maybe it is both issues at the same time?

My 2011 nav also doing the same thing. Stuck at 4:00pm. And resets the date to 2002 every time I start the car. Pretty ridiculous they never put a menu in to just set it yourself... Hopefully someone figures out the fix!!

I don’t see a fix from Honda in the near future. But I love this car and I do see a new radio with a link to my iPhone in my future.

Our are CRZ‘s with their many computer systems in them, I wonder if there are any other glitchy things that will just stop working because it’s an old car?
I hope not.

I noticed that from the New Year (or 1-2 days earlier, IDK), my navigation shows the wrong time. Every time I switch on power the clock resets and start from +3 (I think because of the Auto Time Zone settings). What could possible be the cause? I tried to reset all that I could in the diagnose mode, and even re-download the navigation software, but the issue persists. Running out of ideas. Please HELP!
My 2011 did the same. It was good on 1/1/22 until I stopped for fuel in the afternoon. When I restarted, it displayed the date as 5/4/2002, but had the right time. When I restarted again later, it said 1/1/2002 and starts at 4:00 every time I start the car.

Have any of you purchased the annual updates to the nav system? I'm having the same problem with my 2011 and have never purchased the updates (usually offered for $149). I wonder if the CD that includes map updates would have addressed this issue.

I wonder if it was a New Year glitch. My 2011 just did the same thing. Thinking about disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it, then entering the reboot code you have to enter to see if that cures the problem. Thoughts or any other suggestions?

Can't hurt, but not likely to fix this issue. This seems to be a programming issue that will come back as soon as the clock updates from the GPS signal.

I also have a 2011 CR-Z the navigation system, and my clock resets to January 1, 2002, 1:00 PM. After reading the discussions on this issue, and trying a few of the suggested fixes, which didn't work, I decided to contact the Honda customer service line. They are aware of the problem and I was told that their engineers are currently working on a fix, but at this time, there is no solution available. It is not the CD, you can't reset the clock by disconnecting the battery, and of course there is no way to get into the software to make any changes. Honda recommended that we wait for a fix to be found and released. I don't know what that means other than waiting since it is in their hands.

It from all of the reading here is a firmware glitch , map update will not fix it . Resetting it will not fix it it appears to be a firmware/programming inherent failure due to using old technology. Similar to Y2K. Only real solution is replace with a newer unit that is programmed for the current year.

I highly doubt Honda will replace the radio but maybe they will offer a replacement at a discount. This is not an easy thing to fix the radio simply does not support the current year and can't translare the information to the current year. It is the lack of a digit in the integer if I read and understood all of the above.

One of the many reasons when I bought my car I specifically did not want the factory navigation. I have a stand alone Garmin and it has always worked and when it does not I can replace it many times before it costs me as much as the factory navigation unit would cost new or used.

Hey!! I’m having a problem exactly like everyone else. I took it to the dealer. They tested my battery and told me that it wasn’t the battery. They had no solution but said “ stuff like this happens all the time when the battery is about to go”.

Per the link in post #9 this is a global issue with GPS systems that goes way beyond Honda. Newer devices have already gotten, or will get, software updates to correct it. In some cases hardware may need to be replaced if the system is embedded and not upgradeable.
It is highly unlikely that our 10+ year old cars will be getting a fix from Honda so I wouldn't wait by the mailbox/phone/email for a solution. Realistic options are to ignore/live with it or take the opportunity to go aftermarket.
As already pointed out, stuff like this is a major reason why I never get factory nav and prefer to use my phone, which is always updated (also cheaper).

Hi, My clock is no longer working either. so its not going to be a part, its probably built in or a update issue.
