Not hard but I wouldn't recommend it unless you know the replacement is made for CR-Z and fits. This one doesn't quite fit.

I just cut it on the top seam and then pealed it off. There is a plastic underlayer over the metal core. I'm guessing to remove the plastic underlayer you'd have to break it.

I was going to make one, but after doing it, I'd have to say it's not worth it. I've seen quite a few different brands of handbrake product and all will have issues with the CR-Z brake handle.

But if I get a chance I'll take it back apart and make a DIY since it's basically a "remove" and "install" type thing.

Yes I know zombie reply but I figured responding might still help someone...

For the MoMo handbrake it's just a cover that fits over the existing brake lever. The center console doesn't have to be removed in this case.

However if your replacement is a full lever kit then you would have to remove the center console.
