I dropped off my Advans at a detailer that also repairs wheels. Have some light curb rash, and the old powder coat job is lifting/peeling off. I discovered from Romie (whom I bought them from), that he got them from Germany. The German guy had them on a gtr - cool!

Well anyway, looking forward to some nice, glossy like-new Advans

I have the eBay/Taiwan T1R lookalikes on my car now. I used silicone sealant around the edges before installing. They appear to be exactly the same as the T1R. Phew, no more blind spots!

My Advans have had curb rash repaired and have a fresh powder coat of prismatic black and a clear powder coat. They media blasted the threads for the center caps which made them rough and unusable. I was very distraught, but we have a plan to fix them up (the pitch is 1.5 for retapping!).

Tomorrow I get one of my RSX Type S calipers replaced (when installed, one of the 2006 oem calipers was frozen so we replaced with aftermarket). So the older one will be replaced. And then the day after I get my calipers wrapped with that 3M high heat resistant, REFLECTIVE vinyl! Very excited! No I'm not doing red :) The red glows orange which I don't like, so I'm doing black which glows a white. I will take photos and videos for sure!

These came in the mail today from Canadian CRZ's part out!

All three mirrors will be covered by Mugen!
Looks great Holly!
Glad that you got these. The spirit of Amy lives on. :smile2:

Looking forward to seeing more about that caliper wrap, too.

Will you be painting or otherwise making the Disc Rotor Hats nice looking too? I know some have had them painted in High heat paint. Mine are looking quite rusty :frown2:

Mine are nasty too. No I haven't considered it. That's a part of the rotor that you can see there? Sounds like a PITA, take the rotors all the way off to paint them, then it's gottadry for a while before use and your car is chilling on a lift. I think that's why i haven't considered it

I read an article once where they were painted in place but that would not be ideal. People have done this kind of work with the car up on 4 jack stands. When I have a house and the car is paid off I want one of these https://www.quickjack.com/ so this stuff is easy.

Looks like the BL-5000SLX is the model to get--even though the BL-3500SLX is hefty enough to lift the CR-Z, it doesn't reach the min/max lift points of our cars (plus, you'll get the option of using it on heavier vehicles.):wink2:

For $340 difference that makes a lot of sense. The car on the BL-3500SLX in the picture when I first looked at it looked like a CR-Z to me. Thank you for checking the lift points. I am clueless about where the right lift points are.:grin2:

Well, the BL-3500SLX will technically work, but you only have a half of an inch to play with, which is not worth the chance of crushing the plastic sill panel. Good investment for @HondaHolly and @RachetRex too!:grin2:

I have been having bad luck this year with my crz. First my T1R mirrors fall apart, and now I have some look-a-likes from Tawiwan. Next I get my Advans re-powder coated and the center caps and center nuts don't fit. Now today I notice the wrap on the RSX caliper that brand new a year ago and corroded quickly, the wrap is lifting (probably because of the corrosion). AND to top it off, after having the OTHER RSX caliper (2006 oem one) replaced Friday before getting my brakes wrapped, my brakes have been very weak like back to OEM or worse level of braking power. We thought it was air so I came back today to get a full bleed, but then the mechanic notices the RSX caliper is the wrong one. It came in the correct box but it was the wrong one, and it got wrapped. The shop is going to pay to have the new one wrapped before it goes on the car which is great, but boy 2017 sucks!

Major snowstorm tonight -_-

The coating likely needs to be removed from the mounting surfaces as powder coat is quite thick. Likewise if the lug nut seating surfaces and back of the wheel hub weren't masked it can pose serious safety and mounting issues and must be stripped from those contact surfaces, this is why most wheels come with bare unpainted hub mounting surfaces and good wheels come with bare uncoated lug nut seats.

Brake calipers can reach 500°F easily and heat cycle every time they're driven. Some paints can withstand that for a decent amount of time but not so sure about the longevity of using a wrap on a brake caliper.

Coating will be removed from the caps that cover the lug nuts. And the threads of the center nut will be retapped (1.5 pitch). The pieces of the SA3R are difficult to explain because there's no official names for them. Nothing is wrong with the hub surface

There is a guy who wrapped his calipers in the same special 3M vinyl in 2014. I got him to reply last month and he posted new photos - they are still like new.

So the "incorrect RSX caliper" that is on my passenger side from is actually the correct one, for an RSX. The calipers on the RSX are all on the REAR of the rotor. The crz has the caliper on the FRONT of the rotor, for the front wheels. So the shop ordered a 2006 RSX Type S caliper for the passenger side, but what I actually need is the DRIVER side RSX one to fit my crz PASSENGER side. Biggest face palm in the world right now...
