For those that are already among the lucky ones and currently own a CR-Z, is there any sort of factory alarm (security) system on the car?

Does it come with a key fob to lock / unlock and panic like most Honda's or is it an upgraded security system on the car?

Did you have the option to get a remote car start from the factory?

I'm sure it'll have an immobilizer built into the key and it'll have an lock/unlock funciton.

Alarm system and auto start will be an accessory option. Mostly likely, which i'm pretty sure the auto start will not work for manual tranny. Which sucks...

technically it's called factory "security" system... no real alarm so to speak... even tho if your doors are locked and someone unlocks it and opens the door, the horn will sound and lights go crazy... sounds like an alarm to me haha...

i think it will be the basic system with immobilizer etc...

I think it is the basic factory system, which combines an immobilizer and security alarm. All the keys have this, the basic key, the keyless entry key (on the left of the attached image), and the smart key (on the right).

My handbook talks about "Super locking" as well, it says its available on some types, but I don't see which. It says:

"The super locking helps to protect your vehicle and valuables from theft. To set the super locking, turn the key towards the front of the vehicle twice within 5 seconds. With super locking set, the master door lock switch on the drivers door and the lock tabs on both doors are disabled. You can also set it with the remote transmitter, pressing lock twice within 5 seconds"

There are a lot of places to put that blame... Paris, Britney, Jessica... I could go on :p Blame TV! The TV made me do it!

I must admit though, I really don't get why the USDM version is so different from the EDM/JDM car. Maybe Honda watch too much reality TV too? It does seem that Americans do take a lot of shit and tend to be stereotyped. Top Gear anyone? "It's American, it's spordy!". I must admit, I've only been to Canada when I've visited your side of the pond. I do game a lot with ppl from the US though, so I guess I know better.

I should really stop posting this late, my post is probably all silly and stuff. Sorry if it is ;)

the only thing about it that gets me is that its available everywhere else. then why even take the time to think about changing it here you figure that would just cost honda more time in R&D to do that it just doesnt make sense thats what makes me mad i dont really care if its a flip or a remote or what ever but why do we have to have the cheaper version of the car.....

Ok so back to the alarm ;)

Is there a manufacturer in the US market that makes a device that will send you an SMS text if the alarm is tripped? They have them all over Europe, but they use different frequency bands than here. It would likely need to be something where you could drop in a prepaid SIM card.

A lot of aftermarket alarms have this option. Viper is among the best.
