Hi all, i am new to this forum and need your help.
i have Honda CR-Z 2014 since 2 years. It has been driving great. Last night i parked my car after a ride and all was normal. But when i started it this morning, the gears liver is not moving. There is no malfunction light indicating any issue. Handbreak is down but gear not getting into drive mode. In fact gear liver is not moving to any mode at all. break light is not working when break is applying. Can anyone help me as what could be the problem?
Thanks for your help

Load test Under hood battery but it is an odd presentation . If you have Battery charger or a Jump starter attach to battery to see if you can then get lever into gear and it is Brake not break. Sounds like an odd presentation of a low under hood battery.

One other thing to check and it is a long shot is check the fuses for the brakes and your neutral safety switch or brake switch may have failed. Can you move the lever but it does not do anything or you cannot move it? Does the car start? If car does not start in Park try neutral.

Since it affects putting car in gear or car moving it will need a trip to a shop on a flat bed.
No brake lights, shift lever is locked, My guess is the brake light switch isn't working. Doubtful that it has anything to do with the battery.

Switch or fuse but FedieJ is closer to the solution.

If it's a CVT transmission, you can check the B22 (7.5A fuse,) but it sounds like you have a mechanical lock of the shift selector, if you just can't more the shift lever out of Park.

If the lever won't move, there's a switch lock release that's under the small cover on the left had side of the shift trim panel. Remove that little cover, and push the release lever inside by pushing it down with your key or something of similar size.

This is most likely and related to applying the brake to put car in gear. There is an interlock related to the brakes and moving out of park. It uses a solenoid and I jumped on low voltage being cause of it not working but it is more likely a damaged brake light switch, the solenoid or fuse ( if fuse you want to find out why the fuse blew). You can use the key as Litz states but you still want to find out what failed. This will at least allow you to drive the car some place to get it fixed but driving with no brake lights is very dangerous. Even with brake lights working I have been rear ended two times!

Same thing happened to my 2015 and it was a fuse.
Fuses blow and need to be replaced but just replacing a fuse does not help you determine why it blew. Some will replace a fuse with a higher one if they have to replace a few times then they end up with a fire. Fuses are there to protect the car and the wiring. If one blows you need to find out why and fix the underlying cause.
