Response from Edge Products (i.e. will the Insight CS/CTS work on a Honda CRZ):

I have been using my Insight CTS on my 06 Honda Civic for several years so it is very likely that it would also work on your 2011 CRZ EX. On the Honda vehicles we are monitoring many of the generic SAE PIDs like Battery Voltage, RPM, Engine Run Time, Engine Coolant Temperature, Fuel Level, etc.

That sounds promising .... whose gonna be the first to try this?

Potential problem…

I'm not sure yet, but wanted to mention it before anyone else starts drilling holes in their car.

I seldom use the bluetooth handsfree link in the 2100 EX. But today I tried for the first time since mounting the ScanGauge. Bluetooth symbol showed up on the radio, but the buttons on the steering wheel didn't get a reaction. I turned the phone off and on, and this time there was no Bluetooth symbol on the radio - even after a few minutes.

Only after I unplugged the ScanGauge from the OBDII port and cycled the power in the phone, did I get a working Bluetooth connection. After that, I plugged the ScanGaue in again, and the Bluetooth KEPT WORKING. So not sure what the fault was.

But, I'm wondering if my mounting location close to the radio is causing interference with the Bluetooth connection? I typically keep my phone in the cupholder below the radio, meaning the gauge is between phone and radio. I assume the Bluetooth receiver is co-located with the radio head unit.

It might have just been a fluke, or could be a phone or pairing issue, but it might make sense for anyone considering similar devices to test out any intended mounting location for interference before permanently damaging the car with mounting and wiring holes.

If I figure out what the problem was, for sure, then I will post back here.

I have a list of mods. This one is currently in tenth place.
... So, Monday being a holiday, we should expect a review by, say, Wednesday?
:pP:

Bluetooth worked fine on the wayhome from work tonight, btw, with phone on my belt.
Will experiment further and report back.

Found a second choice. What do y'all think? (watch the video)
That don't ipressa me much!

Is the video showing the 100 that he is flogging, or the 200 model (look at the title on the plastic display holding all the devices)?

The one in the video annoys me - bottom right one that they focus on has pretty small writing, and appears that you have to look at the list they want to give you, or scroll while driving (maybe I'm wrong, as I had the sound off). The graphic displays are a bit cheezy IMHO. If you got two or three, and used each as an analogue display, that would be pretty cool, but spendy at $200 each!

I like your first choice better.

Oh, and no more Bluetooth foibles with mine. Not sure why, but seems it was a fluke.

From the DM-100 seller:
Yeah, PLX only ever made one video (unless it was just recently) and the gauges are identical in function, only difference is the size. the listing is for the DM 100 OBD. The DM 200 is out of commission.

Just watched a video on youtibe. a dood w/3 of them daisy-chained on his S2K. Pretty sweet and you can buy a dash pod to hold them. That price on ebay is not the best I've found.

Thanx for yer review Canada-Dood!

If you can do three of them, in a "pod" together for a reasonable price (and not give the CR-Z's persnickety electronics a coronary), then I think this would be the best option shy of drheem's use of the Navi display. Digital versions of the traditional analogue gauges, that you can toggle to display any of a number of readings depending on what you want to monitor for the occasion.

I'd start by figuring out what parameters you want to display, make sure the device can do it, and then build up your plans from that.

But I'm still leaning toward drheem's as the most elegant solution. Yours has navi, doesn't it?

I got the plxkiwi2 working and its great to see a lot of the car data in display. Temperature is great but a great addition is the intake temp.

I have a 4th generation ipod touch that just sits collecting dust. I don't have "service" to it - it's just wifi/bluetooth. Will that work with this? Forgive my stupid questions but I am just now learning all of this.
Yes, I have the Navi unit in the car.

ps - thank you Canada-Dood for bringing this option to my attention. I had seen drheem's post but look a squirrel!

I'm not sure about the touch but As long as the app works with wifi then it should be good.

Thanx.

To connect your iphone to the Navi, I assume you are using the USB port. I just tried a USB hub and the car won't recognize it. Reason I tried this is because I use a USB stick for my music. Music is more important to me, so I am looking into a used Garmin or TomTom (for a bigger screen than the ipod touch), and buying the mechanics for that.

on edit: When you are accessing the aux for the iphone/kiwi2 - can you use the PC card for music? Or even the radio?

Ken, can you please clarify - do you still need the i-device (phone or pod) in between, or did you connect the factory navi directly to the PLX Kiwi? And are you still able to play music, etc, with that screen up?

Not for me (non-navi), but if I had it, I would definitely go this route.

Weird. Im not sure where my previous post went, but i responded to the question.

Anyways prior to the plx I installed a navtool on my stock navi which enabled me to use the stock screen as a video in, compliments of Holydonut DIY. I was already using a spare iPhone 4 for video so when I connected the plx with the Dashcmd app it showed on my navi.

Note: connecting the iPod, iPhone or iPad will not show video it will only be for audio. It was the navtool that allowed me to show video. Hope that helps. Also, if Dashcmd is running or i tjink any app for the PLX you won't be able to access music.

TY for the clarification.

Also... It may help if you update the OS for your iTouch. I'm running a really old ipod for music on the USB and all I had to do was update its OS system.
