Easy Tail Light Mod.

It is my opinion that this looks waaaayyyyy better.:cool:


For those that do not see it right off the bat, I painted the edge of the tail lights black. That way it looks more black, more better, less chrome, and less like a Prius. :pP:

I didn't take all the DIY pictures, but it's pretty easy if you're not afraid to take your car apart.

I used this or something very similar to it: Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X 12-oz. Flat Black General Purpose Spray-249127 at The Home Depot
Just try to get something that bonds well with plastic

EDIT: I used one that was semi-gloss, but I dont really think it matters

Ended up using that rustoleum stuff.

Turned out great. A lot better than plastidip. Other people probably won't notice a difference unless next to another CR-Z that this hasn't been done to.

Makes a big difference in comparison, but those unaware of what it normally looks like won't notice unfortunately. Oh well, my only concern is how much I like it when I look at it :)

No offense, and I'm sure it looks awesome but that has to be the WORST example of an after pic I've seen in my life. The only way it could have been worse is if it was a picture of a rim.

Try to take it the same angle as the before because I really want to see it.

Is it seriously the worst after pic ever? It's not that bad, the angle is off but I still see the difference.

I think what everyone means is that you could have taken a pic of just the "eyeliner" after you did it & before you blacked the tail light out.

Decided to give this a shot today, but decided to do a small border on the face of the tail lights like a couple other people have done and I'm very happy with the outcome so I took pics to show detail for those that are nervous or on the fence about the "eyeliner" mod. Taken with my phone so they aren't perfect pics

Thanks once again all - I did this mod as well when I did the Tail Light Mod -
It really does make a huge difference in the overall look -

EDIT****Figured it out...had to pull on the connector a little harder than I was comfortable with. I was planning on vinyl tinting, but failed, so next weekend, I will probably to this eyeliner mod
How the h3ll do you take this out? Underneath is just a circut board...

twist and pull out..all the lights come out the same way; really simple. if im not mistaken, twist, pull, and disconnect the lil wire before completely pulling away
