CR-Z A-Pillar

My Silver CR-Z's A-pillar has a black plastic look. Is the A-pillar black-colored plastic, or is it a polymer trim (like the bumper covers) with black paint. Should it be waxed? I know that waxing some colored plastics will dull / scratch the finish over time, but painted trim needs to be waxed soon and often.
