OOOH! Love me some Mx-3! Rhymes with MX-5 ;)
Only with the V-6. But they do have the extra rear window, like the Z.

Don't think of this car as a hybrid and you'll be much more comfortable with it. Don't look at the battery gauges on the left. Just drive.

Put your VIN in Google and see what comes up. It will show auctions and the like, if there were any.

And drove it back? Nice little freeway runners, aren't they?

I'm almost three years into my '13, and still take it out just to drive. Tahoe last Wednesday, 250 miles round trip. It doesn't mind the mountains at all.
Mine is a 2013 (Built in December of 2012) and in its first three years I lived in three states( VA, TX, and now NY). I am always looking for reasons to drive The Speed Bump!

They like to be driven and there is a sticker under the hood to encourage you to drive it 30 minutes a month to keep it happy. JUST DRIVE IT!:grin2:

Consider that the CR-Z has just a 1.5, I was surprise at the speed. I was listening to music through that pretty awesome EX sound system, looked down and BOOM! Holy crap, I'm doing 90? Nothing shakes, nothing rattles... just smooth 90.

Hi guys, I’m thinking of buying a CR-Z as a replacement for my first car because I’m desperate for a change and always liked the CR-Z as it reminds me of the CRX. However, I am worried that if I bought one (probably a 12 plate) would there be any reliability issues with the battery as I’ve heard there is a common issue called battery discharge? And also that the battery would be expensive to replace? Also, is there anything I should look out for when test driving one, eg common problems etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

The battery problems people talk about here are related to the standard 12V. Because of the weird way the CR-Z keeps it charged (and uses it during auto-stop, some users experience premature 12V death. It could just be because everything else is so rock solid that is the issue that sticks out the most.

There’s some fear-mongering in the owners manual that not driving the car at least once per month will have consequences on the hybrid battery, but I have yet to see a forum member experience such an event. Any CR-Z you find (even a 12 plate) should still have a working hybrid battery. Just treat it like a normal car when doing the test drive and shopping for it and you’ll be fine.

If you search this forum you will find 0 postings of any owner with IMA battery issues. Under Hood 12 Volt is a wear out item like tires. Treat as a non Hybrid and make sure all of it works well. If concerned have under hood battery Load tested with the car not running.

I've found a CR-Z I'm considering buying. Took it for a spin yesterday and really liked the car but had a couple of concerns hopefully some of you might be able to help me with.
The first thing was that there was a small chip in the windscreen. It was noted as an advisory on its last mot (march 2020) but I don't know if its been repaired properly or if it is likely to mean i would need to have the whole windscreen replaced at some point which looks like it would be a costly job.
The other concern I had was that the car is nearly 10 years old now and I've struggled to find much definite information on the life expectancy of the IMA battery. For people who have similar age CR-Z's, have you had to have it replaced by this point or are you expecting to get much longer out of it?
I also found some damp in the bottom of the boot which the dealers are checking out for me and are going to contact me about on friday.

https://bit.ly/35eIgJL This is the listing for the car if it would be helpful for anyone to look at

Thankyou :)

I bought my 2011 with similar mileage a few months ago. I was also concerned about the battery, but the anecdotal evidence here on the forums seems to indicate that they last a long time and there are plenty of high-mileage Z's (much higher than this) running around with their original batteries. The 12V battery under the hood is of greater concern as they tend to fail due to insufficient charging.
The dampness in the rear is also worrisome as the IMA system (battery and controller) is back there under the floor.
I'd recommend if possible getting the car checked out by an independent third party, either a dealer or private shop, so you can get a full evaluation and report. That will help you make an informed decision about whether to buy it. Ideally whover checks it for you should have access to a Honda HDS scanner or something equivalent that can communicate with all the systems in the car including the IMA. That way you can get an actual report on the condition of the battery.
Good luck and we hope to see you here soon as an owner, either with this car or another one.

MIlo.. first thing you have to do is to check what's under the car. It may be covered in rust. Check also condition of clutch. Price is a bit high but maybe they can go down a bit to replace windscreen. There's also white Z from Wembley for 4k on Auto Trader which you should consider and that was my backup car if don't buy mine.

Thankyou both for the advice. I should hear back about what the dealers have found related to the damp today and have found a honda dealer nearby who I'm going to ask to look it over. Hopefully if it all looks ok and I can get some money off the dealers price I should be about to get it in the next few days
