Has anyone tried fitting a snowboard into the trunk with the rear storage area down? Is it possible, or is a roof-rack required for that sort of thing? Also, how does the CR-Z handle going up mountains and hills and stuff? Is there sufficient torque to go up at a decent clip, or will I have to pull over to the side every now and then to let traffic pass?

Yup, i fit 2 boards, i go up about 3 times a week. Put old beanies over the ends of the board so you wont scratch the interior cause the boards are a squeeze. the Z pulls up the mountain pretty well, much funer in sport i must say. youll be passing traffic trust me

I wanna see this picture, too! We definitely thought we'd have to get a roof rack. Can you also list the size of the boards you have in there (mine is a shortie, 143cm, but my husband has a super long banana board--I think it's like 160!)?

Yakima fit the CRZ recently, so you can do a search online for their available racks.

ill get the pic tonight. my board is 152 and my buddies is 156. the 156 is a squeeze unless you move the driver side seat up. i guess it just depends how you like the driver seat, i sit all the way back. i gotta move up a bit for the boards

I would think a snow board would fit in easily. Having said that, I would still find some sort of an exterior rack as i wouldn't want a wet board in my car after I was done. Heck, I have a rack for my truck when I go skiing even though I could simply put the skis in the back.
