This may be a dumb question but definitely interested in asking.

Is there a way to make the CRZ engine auto shut off whenever going into neutral for a few seconds despite the speed?

Is there a ECU mod or aftermarket piggyback ecu/tune that would let me do this?

Would save so much gas instead of having to be under 18mph and foot on brake.

I like autostop, a lot :)

I'm not talking about autostopping every time I'm in neutral from shifting gear. I'm talking if I place it in neutral for more than say...2 seconds; and it does not take more than 2 seconds to shift gear. If it does take you more than that, you sir, are a very dangerous driver.

My battery is always full, I sit in traffic quite a bit and stay in gear to help braking and regen. I only go into neutral until I REALLY have to, meaning, I'm VERY close to the car in front for stop and go traffic.

But I'm actually interested in auto shut off at higher speed. In a Prius, I would drive up to about 75mph, then "trick the engine to turn off" and coast until about 55mph. This hypermilling technique helps me get phenomenal MPG.

Thus was curious if it was possible. But there's no after market computer, or ECU programming to do this?

I know the Z is not a Prius but worth a try.
