Hi group,
A woman I'm dating recently hit a deer in her 2011 CR-Z and crushed the passenger's side corner and the headlight housing is destroyed. It looked like a replacement housing assembly was going to be like $650 on ebay, if you could even find the PS one. She didn't have comprehensive insurance, and can't afford to replace the car. At this point we don't mind cutting, gluing, fiberglass, duct tape, whatever it takes (the body is pretty well crunched) - so in that regard, could a a headlight assembly from a similar year Civic be patched in? I'm not sure if it has the same number of bulbs, etc, or whether the aiming system would work, etc.
I want to impress her, so any advice on how to get her back on the road would be most appreciated! Also we're in Colorado - no inspection - so almost anything goes.
Thanks!

Unfortunately this question has been asked a lot. The headlights for the CR-Z are unique. There are companies that sell refurbished ones ( carpart is one name I remember) and you can also look at other suppliers for repair parts. One source I have used for other used parts is https://www.redlineautoparts.com/honda/2011-2016-cr-z/ is it a base with Halogen headlights or an EX with HIDs you need to know that first then do some searching on car parts web sites. There is no other car that has the same head lights. My body shop was able to get me a replacement capsule from one of their specialty suppliers but that was a while ago when my car was hit in a hit and run.

There is a member here who had a spare lens that is an option if it is the lens but not the rest of the capsule.

Here is a site that seems to have some of them in stock Honda CR-Z Get All Parts . Prices for left side seem to all be less than what you stated you found on eBay. Just need to deternmine which lights you have and order. No modifications needed remove old replace with new.

I found it with a quick Google search. There should be plenty of others

The closest youll get to aftermarket headlights is upgrading to newer 13+ headlights with the LED DRL strip. @96firephoenix has been slowly making harnesses that allow you to retrofit those headlights into an older 11-12 CRZ. He is also working on figuring out how to retrofit Acura jewel lights into a base 11-12 headlight.

Great Idea but then they will need 2 of the more expensive ones. Better to use suppliers of what I call Crash parts.

AFAIK yes headlights from the same years 2013-16 are interchangeable as long as it is the right ones IE base or EX and above. Halogen versus HID.

But many have restored them and had good results for much less than replacing even if you use PPF or clear coat after restoration.

The OP has no choice needs a lens or a whole headlight.

Will a 2013 LX be able to use an EX headlight of a similar year? Mine are starting to get hazey so I thought about upgrading.

Hi again everyone, thanks for all the input. We're still casting about for a PS headlight housing - I think I'm gathering from the posts that we're wedded to the HID system because of the EX model. Unfortunately, all the leads previously offered didn't turn up anything. Only ones we've found in stock are around $550 for the housing. We figured we'd post one more request for info before buying elsewhere.
Thanks again!

If he does not, sometimes they show up on https://www.redlineautoparts.com/ as used. Or you can use Genuine OEM Honda Parts and Accessories Online - Honda Parts Now find the part number and buy from them, or use an Internet search to find better pricing. Do you need the Halogen or HID left or right and what year? There have been a few different variations of the headlights over the years. Some are all Halogen, some are HID (Low beams) some have High beam as DRL (Daytime Running Lights) others have LED strip for the DRL You want to make sure you order the right one for your car.

Any chance you still have this?

it’s a 2013 cr-z ex

we just got it yesterday for my daughter so not sure what variation it needs. My son is working on it now - removing the front bumper and going to remove the damaged passenger side light assembly

I have a 2013 EX also, it will be an HID with the LED DRL. Do not leave the car with no bulb in the socket(s) for the headlight, it will arc over, melt and cause a fire! HID (High Intensity Discharge, which uses a high voltage ballast).

Redline has none right now.

Honda parts now currently unavailable, but here is the part number information.

If you have any friends that work in a body shop they maybe able to get one for you for less refurbished or places online maybe able to help. I did a quick search, here are results:

Also talk to your local dealer.
