2015 West Coast/California Meet

So I had some extra time today, and figured I might as well get a head start on next year's meet.

After this year's meet myself and others realized that in order to have a big turnout, the next meet is going to have to be further south, like a couple hours south.

Right now I would like to hear ideas about where everyone would like have the meet held. As of now I only know of a few that are between San Diego and Sacramento.

Cities between Sacramento and San Diego:
•Pismo Beach
Pismo possible route i was messing around with google maps and decided to see if i could find a possible driving route, and this is what i came up with, its very long but can always be manipulated or tailored to ones likings.
•Fresno
Mineral King Road this road is approx. 30-50 mins away from fresno. Google says it takes about 1 hour to travel, so up and back would be 2 hours.
•San Luis Obisbo
•Cambria
•Lompoc

Other possibilties:
ITEM9's suggested route I have never been there or driven on this road, but i do trust the word of the allknowing ITEM9, it looks to be a nice drive on some pretty crazy roads, it's on the borders Arizona and New Mexico. This is also another route we could go with this year's meet.

i will continue to look for more areas and driving routes so we have more options

Once we have More input on where we can hold the meet then decide on the exact city, by holding a poll or something.

Attendees:
1) sam95605
2)Sonic Motor
3) kaytwozero
4)slaytanic213
5)jasoncrz
6)zf1nation
7)
8)
9)
10)
11)
12)
13)
14)
15)

Unsure attendees:
1) D_Rek
2)tbot
3)
4)

Don't sue me bro for not asking :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We'll just make it 1 day since multiple days was too complicated. This is the 1 day that we all meet up and we can coordinate accordingly on who's staying a night..etc.

Since it's down south, you guys from Sac probably will end up meeting us East Bay / SF/ guys probably in San Jose or Dublin as a meeting point. Depends if we are taking the 101 or the 5 on the location chosen.

Yea, the east is a little far for my wallet, that a 2 day drive each way, then the 2-3 days staying there, that's already a week, so yea I'll stick to west coast haha if I was closer it would be no problem but it's just too far sorry :/

Wow that flyer was put together quickly lol

Yea meeting and driving down would be definite.

I understand that the last meet was closer so the 1 day meetup was good, but the next one is going to be a lot further, so it's going to have to be at least 2-3 days, just cus nobody is going to want to drive all the way up/down just for 1 day and 2 nights. Multiple days wasn't too complicated to plan, it was just more like it was so close to everyone that nobody wanted to stay overnight when they could just drive home, and the advance notice wasn't enough.
Ex: why would you get a hotel in San Fran if you live in the area lol

This is why I am planning it so far out, so everybody could plan accordingly and the socal guys/gals are able to attend so its same distance between Socal and Norcal
I'd think Avalon would be cool, but getting the cars across would be quite the challenge!!:D

Yea, that could be a very big problem hahaha
Splash café in Pismo Beach. They got the best clam chowder on earth!!!

Beach house is reasonable there. Plus we can ATV and Dune Buggy!!!
Yes beach houses are very affordable and I love riding dirtbikes, atvs, and buggies. Although I will not bring my bikes or atvs, sand is very bad for them lol but I'll definitely rent some and ruin there's lmao
Have you ever thought about having this "west coast" meet a different date instead of taking the same date as the actual annual meet? I don't understand why you want to have a conflict of dates when there is 364 other days of the year you can choose. Do you realize that maybe some Midwest/east coast people might actually want to attend this?
I doubt midwest/east coast people would want to come. If we can get enough, not a small few then yes we can change it. Confirm with cash deposits then we west coast people can change that.
I can see this getting out of hand already...

OK, I'm making some decisions here...

First, the meet at the Tail of the Dragon is NOT the "official" CR-Z meet. It's the Dragon Meet and that's it. The fact that Carzee called it the official meet, is why the West Coast people wanted to play "me too" on the Dragon Meet in the first place. Let's just call the meets exactly what they are: the Dragon Meet and the Cali Meet. There is no "official" meet and no one should claim their meet as such.

Second, the West Coast people need to change the date of their meet. It's already causing friction again and the date is isn't essential to their plans. The Dragon Meet is more established and has priority on that date. A completely different month would be ideal, which is easier for those in California with more pleasant year round weather... Please just have it at a different time so we can be done with the issue...

Thank you for your compliance everyone.
+1

I see where you are coming from, and the dates are not set into stone, as you may recall this year's was suppose to be on July 4th but that was too difficult for everyone to attend due to it being a family day and obviously the CRZ isn't a family vehicle. So I changed it to Aug 1st, and at first not realizing it was the same day as the Dragon meet, till later.

The date can be changed, but my question is:

What is that going to do, how many people from cali/west coast attended the dragon this past year?

Are those people even going to attend the dragon meet next year knowing that there is going to a West Coast meet next year, around summer?

You see I made this event in the first place so the guys far away from the Dragon can have a meet too, because not everyone's bank account or job will let someone take the 7-8 day trip it would take to attend the dragon.

Carzee didn't really make a mistake, maybe with the official part but he had his head in the right direction, and I'm not going to sit here and knock on him for that because I'm essentially doing the same

It wasn't really a "me too" type of thing, more on the lines of like, I wanted to attend an affordable event, so since there weren't any close by I decided to create my own.

I don't mind changing the dates but as you can see, I like to get everyones input, so before I go out set a date I need to know what approximate time is best for everyone (hard part from this past meet)

I also don't make the flyers FYI. If anyone was wondering

Well, not to tell you guys how to do your business, but can I make a suggestion that basically changes the entire format of this meet? I honestly would try to make it out West if you guys are down with it... As of now your meet has no "interstate" appeal at all; it honestly looks like just another regular local car meet in California. There is no purpose other than to meet each other. Hardly anyone is going to make the effort to travel across state lines just to pose for pictures...

For me, meets like the Dragon Meet are all about carving up some curvy roads out in the wild... Twisty roads that do not stop... Places that are unique and surprisingly rare... Something exciting and dangerous... The Dragon is not the only place like this and it is debatable whether it is the best...

I have done that loop before when I had my Ducati and lived in Arizona... It was pretty badass out there... This is on par with the Dragon, except this is more of a secret than the Dragon is and a little bit more remote... If I remember correctly, the roads were really well maintained too.

Does anyone out West want to have a run at anything like that?

No one from the west coast showed up. After I posted the recap thread I've had a few people from out west say they will try to make the trip next year.

Also you answered your own question , they probably won't show up next year to dragon because you have the same exact date. There is no reason for you to have the same date as dragon, you guys have good weather all year around and can choose any weekend in the spring or fall.

Well like I said, I am always open to suggestions, and I personally wouldn't mind having a meet that far as long as we could get a better commitment from attendees.

You are right about not having much of an interstate appeal, but it's really hard to accommodate everyone and where they live. I have found out the hard way about just how hard it is to organize a meet.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, I will add it to our list of possibilities for next year. I enjoy driving and taking risks just as much as the next adrenaline junky, but i also want everyone to be happy, and not have everyone attend a meet where I exclusively chose location, dates, and times.

OK I hear where you are coming from on the dates perspective, but my question wasn't if anybody would attend on the exact dates, it was for the general summertime. so if we held ours in the summer (dates not too close to yours) do you think the more west guys/gals would still show for your meet too? That's what my question really was, just think for a moment, you can take 1 vacation for the summer and it's between an area closer or further, which are you going to choose? Of course the one that's closer, being that is only judged based on distance and not location, attendees, etc.

I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to resolve our little predicament here.
