I made the dealer give me my code. I never paid for it. I paid for the car, radio came stock in the car so I have to have the code. That's all there is to it.

I'm trying to make sense of it like what's with the codes for other vehicles?

Is it possible for different models to have radios with an identical serial number. . But then what would be the reason

As far as I can tell it's based upon model and year and like last 6 or 7 of the Vin. I'm assuming that I took a pic of the page the dealer printed out when I needed the radio code for the 12 crz ex.

I got codes a while back from a more official site that was spam-free, I don't recall the exact link. I got a page with dozens of possible codes but to date I've never needed to use them, so I have no idea if only one actually works or if multiple ones do.

That's a lot messy, I've only needed the code after the battery was changed and they didn't put the power to the electrical port to save the memory. Hopefully when you need to change the battery they have the process right and you never need the code.

They are probably trying to crack the code generator, if they get enough codes they might get it but otherwise if you add the code future owners would find the code you added now in the future... I guess.
