Hi friends,

I forgot my dome light on 2 days ago and now i went to start my crz and no power.

I heard there is no alternator in the car so if i jump start it with another vehicle, the battery wont be recharged correct?

So i went and purchase a battery charger/booster for about 140$

Now i am wondering, should i remove the 12v battery from the car and charge it indoors ? or
Should i just charge it directly on the car?

is there any precautions to take when removing the battery from the car or charging it directly on the car?

thanks in advance...:cursing:

There is indeed no alternator in the car. Instead, the 12-volt battery is charged through a DC/DC converter from the IMA system. The battery will be charged.

When charging a battery, you can charge it indoors, but it needs to be very well-ventilated and usually unoccupied, in case the battery vents. I am not too sure about charging the battery still installed in the car. Has anybody tried it?

i have a booster/charger which gives out 75 amps, i am thinking doing it directly on the car because if i remove battery i might lose stored data in the ECU, it says all i have to do is put the negative on the ground wire near the body and the positive on the positive pole and crank it up, i hope it wont damage any electronics. Also don't want to screw up the default crz alarm system. Anybody have a quick reference or tip on boosting a 12v crz battery ?

i finally did it the safe way, i just removed the battery from the car and slow charging it on an optimal 4 to 25 amps slow charge. so far so good, its charged at about 80% and i see the red dot with blue circle around the battery health indicator.
I will let you know if it worked once i install the battery back on the car.

it worked!, as soon as i connected the last pole (negative), there was a little spark and then the alarm went off and i pressed the unlock button on remote. Then when i put the key in ignition, i saw all the lights were back and the IMA indicator was at null (no bars).
I left the car on idle and Park position and i slowly accelerated to make the rpm's go higher and the IMA indicator slowly got back to fully recharged. Problem solved.

Nice. When I tried that with my battery I didn't get the blue circle back. Battery was defunct (replaced under warranty by dealer). Glad yours worked out ok!

FYI: I charged up my car's nearly dead 12-V battery with an external charger. I left the battery in its tray and without removing the power/ground cables. No problems. I used the owner's manual's recommendation of placing the ground lead to a specific ground point under the hood.
