Adventures in Driver Training

As some of you know, I bought my CRZ for the purposes of driver training. I figured I'd pull a move like Jen-from-IL and make a running thread about my various exploits as I encounter them!
Not to be without utility, I'll also post about the various work, warranty and otherwise, as I plan to put about 50,000kms (~31,000 miles) on my Z per year.

Awww, I got a mention. I'm not the only one here who has a running (in my case rambling) thread. But thinks for noticing.

WOW, 31,000 miles a year???? If I did that, I would be screwed, as I have 3 year lease (so 36,000 miles). Heck, sounds like you'll have more fun with your Z than I will.

Jen

I'm sure they stop and wonder why the engine stops right? I get that a lot from passengers

Yeah, better cover that in your pre-flight briefing, or they'll reach for the key at every light!

Here's to lots of training, and few adventures!

SOME SAY, that when he gets into his car, he plugs the IMA cable into his left ear Ö but no one can tell who is charging whom!

So, today was my first full day of lessons in the Z! Two almost-complete students, two completely new students, and one about halfway through. All of them ADORED the car, and had no trouble with it at all. Curb parks, parallel parks, and back-in parks were a cinch, and the extended mirrors made blind-spot checks cake too! One of them actually said "This car is so awesome!" at LEAST a dozen times.

I really can't overstate how much I love this car. It's a blast to drive, it's really comfortable (even after spending 10 hours in it), and the fuel efficiency is great. I haven't achieved anything that a hyper-miler would be impressed by; today bounced around 6-7L/100km (30-40MPG). However, my 2008 Civic coupe only got 10L/100km (~20MPG) while doing lessons, so I'm still saving 30-40% on my gas bill!

I put some clear vinyl on my rear bumper, door sills, and door handles to protect from careless students, installed some WeatherTech mats (woo forums!), and I have Team Hekos vent visors (woo forums again!), rear splash guards and a cargo tray on the way! I still have those lovely 17" stock wheels on it, but they're going to be taken off in a few days in favour of 16" steels and Kumhos. It makes me sad, but not as sad as scuffing those rims would!

Damn....the car I learned how to drive on years back definitely wasn't that cool! Or cool at all from what I remember...I like that color.
