Installed a drop in K&N air filter and resulted in a strange sound

I recently replaced my factory air filter for a drop in filter from K&N. I removed the four clips, picked up the old filter from the tabs and simply replaced it with the new one from K&N. Now when I'm driving on the highway at high speed (70ish) the car makes a strange sound from the dash that sounds like air making something flutter around inside. I don't believe I installed it incorrectly but it's possible.

Any ideas?

Yes sir.. that's the top windshield molding makin'a'noise!

Well, if the noise is like a high pitched one that is. Try pushing around the lights around the middle of the windshield / top area.. you might be able to change the sound.

Seriously though.. this is a known common problem on the CR-Z's. Both of mine have had it.. my current one does. I need to replace the molding soon myself. Maybe you just didn't notice it until now? Or maybe it was silent until now? I didn't notice it on my first CR-Z until a couple years into owning it.

What does the sound sound like? High pitched? Air sound? Most likely the windshield molding noise!!

If it started after you changed the Air filter I would check to make sure the hose and lid on Air Filter box is seated properly and all the clips are fully latched. Also make sure the new filter is seated as deeply as the old one was.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this post by offering potential solutions. It ended up being a really mundane issue... I had one of my windows rolled down partially. Lol 🤦‍♂️

LOL--Sometimes, it has nothing to do with the "work" you've just done, but with the doubts that you haven't f'd it up in some other manner by "fixing" it.

I can't imagine going down that rabbit hole with something more technical and in-depth... I'd probably lose my ****. 🤯
