Rotrex maintenance

Reminder to all you HPD and Jackson SC folks, check both your oils. Rotrex may have a closed oil system, but that doesn't mean it won't need topping off now and then.

Not that is evident yet, but the level was low, noise was made, buttocks were clenched, and a car was rented because I didn't think ahead far enough to have more than 1/4 bottle spare.

Yeeeekkks! How long did it take to get low enough on oil for it to get below the safe threshold? Not quite a year since the install, right? I've checked my Sprintex and added a little--it takes very little to fill it up, just a little seems like a lot low!

Check my level every so often still at the same level. 3 years in 1 month. JRSC. But good heads up brother!

Yes, I've only slightly topped up my Sprintex closed oil system once. The hardest thing is to see the level on the tiny dipstick, such is the clarity of the oil.

2014 CR-Z GT-T 6MT in Polished Metal, Sprintex supercharger, KTuner, Takeda intake, HKS Silent Hi-Power full exhaust, Tegiwa 2nd decat pipe, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, Cusco ARBs, Ronal R53 wheels, Seibon TS hood, JDP Engineering spoiler - Now no more!

Crash - you might want to check for leaks. My level hasn't budged since the initial fill. I don't see how any fluid could be consumed other than by leakage...

Thanks for the friendly reminder. Mine was a little low. I've had mine for like 3 years now though.

small leak by one of the oil cooler fittings. More a collection of drops, really, but over a year... Hoping that was it. Took about 200mL to get it back up to level. The ugly, horrible noise never came back after the initial occurrence, and there is no noise or vibration to indicate the drive system was damaged. Now that it is refilled the oil is recirculating like it should. Still makes boost.

Catastrophe, probably, narrowly averted.
