CRZ-Canadian,

It will be all good. I test fitted my wheels (18 X 8, offset +48, with 235/40) and it is not hitting anything. Not the fenders and not the suspension. Although there is only about a 5mm clearance from the spring seats. But it does rub the inner fender slightly when i do a lock turn. it's an area about 2mm radium. Roddy, would that be ok in the long run? Im just using those tires until they are worn out and will change it out for something else (i just have it from my old car that's why i don't want to spend extra coz the tires are 80% new).

As for the 215 tires, i have a few friends running those, and nothing will rub or hit. im pretty sure of it.

Cheers

Im going to come right out and say it...Im a noob when it comes to anything aftermarket...hell; I dont even have my first car yet (a little time left on learners permit). But im getting a CRZ and I wanted to put different wheels on it, along with some other things. I dont even know how to word my question correctly, but here it goes.

If you take a stock CRZ...how do you know what wheels will fit without modding? I know the PCD is 5x114.3. I know that cant change. But how wide can you go, what diameter can you go? As far as I understand, if you go past the stock 16" wheels, you have to rest the computer to tell it there are now ex: 17". Once I get on the right track, it will probably come easy.

I have to learn somewhere...

yyyeeeaaaaahhhhhh...sorry about that. Didnt mean to pollute the thread. From what I gather...as long as it is maximum 8x17 with the 5x114.3, they will be fine.

Speaking as one noob to another (although I'm apparently a noob with a super-duper member???!???), I can say that if you read all 52 pages of this thread, you'll know pretty much everything there is to know about wheel and tire fitment on the CR-Z - it is more than wheel size and bolt pattern - there's offset, backspacing, caliper clearance, hub bore, suspension modifications, tire size (width and aspect ratio), and the comparison of tire to wheel width (stretch) to consider. It is a long read, but really worth the effort. This is one of the most comprehensive threads on any subject, on this site, thanks to the input of a lot of really knowledgeable people, and the real-life experiences of many forum participants. But we cannot go expecting them to re-create the wheel (pun intended) every time someone asks the question.

Good luck!

CR-Z Cdn is totally right. Spend some time reading and you'll get more information about CRZ.. it's not actually that complicated....

On the other note, PCD can be changed btw.... it's not fixed... as long as it is a car part, there is a way to modify it. Just a matter if you want to spend the money and why.

The folks on this forum is very talented, and informative. They are very experienced and im sure they will clear up your mind after reading the whole 52 pages. But start with reading first.
