Arrow Damn proud to be a "1%-er"

So my buddy and I were talking the other day and he read an article (forgot to ask him which one) that stated that manuals made up 1% of all new car sales last year I'm sure you guys already know this but you can't even get a Ferrari with 3 pedals anymore! I don't care how fast it can shift there's NOTHING like rowing the gears yourself, especially in something like this....

I know its becoming extinct but if that's the case, I'll be holding onto my car for quite a long time, that's for sure. At my old job back home I got to drive an A3 converted to S3 specs by this tuning company called MTM and it had the DSG box and although was fast and fun to drive, I kept pushing in the clutch but ofcoarse it had none

So, if your a "1%-er", stand up and be counted!

The lowest figures Ive found are that roughly 5% of the new car market consisted of manuals last year, while some automakers like Toyota only sold 2% or less of their total sales.

That is pretty low, considering when our parents bought their first cars almost a third of them were manuals. The big problem these days isnt that people dont want to learn, but they dont have a car to learn with or someone to teach them.

My gf even wants to learn but theres no way shes driving my crz!

Another idea about why they are going away is manuals used to get better fuel mileage, but those days are gone.

I'm 45mpg combined - I think they still get better mpg.

As far as mileage goes I'm still getting 40 mpg in the winter temps, using SPORT and NORMAL, not sure what the CVT does in this condition but I know what I get and this is using the "old school" method of measuring so I know its right!

My previous car, 2010 Fit sport had the 5AT and although was fun to drive using the paddles, nothing replaces that 3rd pedal, period, I don't care about how many milli seconds it shifts and a human can't do it that fast, that's not it, its about being one with your car and since most new cars have so many things that "take over" for you, this allows us some control over the car ourselves, something alot of people either don't get or don't wanna get, shame on them, we're losing the driving experience with thinking like that. I predict that sticks are going to become even more popular once and if they actually all go away!

My God, even Lotus has made the Evora with an auto, I thought they'd hold out but then again today's Lotus isn't the Lotus of say......2010, LOL!
