Learned to drive on a manual ('63 VW Beetle), took my driving test in a manual (late 70's Datsun) and have owned manuals my whole life including my current 6MT and '99 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 5 speed. I taught my oldest to drive in my Jeep and he's currently using it as a daily driver. My youngest just got his permit and he'll learn on the Jeep as well. So, we're doing our part to keep the 1% going!

Most of the problem is car manufacturers not offering manuals in their cars. The toyota camry doesn't have a manual option at all, neither does a v6 accord, or leather trimmed accord. It's unfortunate, but just the way things are going.

6MT for me to ^^ its funny the other day I picked my mom up from somewhere and she commented on how she still can not beleive I drive MT so well (growing up I always said I would NEVER get a MT) main reason being the one car I tried in (old mitsubishi eclipse) it was horrible and frusterating that I had the concept and know how it works in my head but it wasn't doing @_@ and now I wouldn't want an automatic if it was offered you feel so much more in control and connected to the car, as if all these years I have never even been driving lol

It's only manuals here because you cant get a full driving license without passing your test in one.

You should try driving a proper soprts car, a Lotus Evora or Porsche 911 are so involving its worringly addictive, nothing says 'welcome to performance' like a two ton clutch

Speak for tyself.
Seems like lots of the 'row your own' crowd ties the operation of a clutch with their manhood. In reality, 16 year old cheerleader could handle a Honda gearbox.

Of course I am kidding, I am sure you are a fantastic driver.

Anyone could drive an MT Honda. The fact that anyone could and very few do because they don't want to deal with a clutch and shifting is what is stupid. And then it's not even that they don't have an MT, but that they don't even know how to drive one. I don't know how many times in my life where we have gone on a trip in one of my vehicles and I've had to drive the whole way because I was the only one that even knew what a clutch was and didn't say anything before we got 5 hours down the road..

I stand by my opinion that everyone should know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle even if they don't own one.

Man, than sounds like fun! I learnt to drive a County 1884 tractor before a car makes a car seem easy after 8 manual gears, high range, low range, 4wd, 2wd and all that again in reverse
