so my car rolled back a few inches from its parked position bc its on flat land i didnt place the e-brake on. i got into my car a few hours later and placed my foot on the clutch and the brake to start it. suddenly i feel a thrust and notice the vehicle moving forward and jumping the curb in front of me. mind you my foot is on the brakes already. I instantly pull the e-brake and turn off the car to stop it from hitting the apt in front of me. I already had the recall upgrade. so what the f? |

Not sure how a 120 some ft-lbs of torque in the car can trust the car forward like you claim when you pressin the brakes and have the clutch dissengaged? I have tried to take off with the parking brake on(only the back 2 tires) and it did not go hardly anywhere. Your clutch must be broken and fully engaged and the throttle stuck wide open or something. Even then im not sure how all that could have overcome the brakes. I guess what i am saying is i am confused here...

The reverse lurch happens when engaged in first gear, releasing the clutch quickly after the car re-starts usually from autostop when the IMA battery is low. It makes sense, because there is nothing mechanical controlling the direction of the electric motor, so from a standstill it can go either direction. Understanding how it happens, I dont see how they couldve fixed the problem with a simple ecu reflash, but Ive tried and cannot get mine to do it...

I'd guess the ECU flash incorporates new/different position information to prevent this. OP - As others have said, if the clutch is disengaged, there is no drive to the wheels. If you're positive the pedal was down then it looks like a clutch failure of some kind. ETA - No matter how flat the ground, I would never leave my car without the handbrake (e-brake) engaged or in gear. |

In Canada, New Brunswick province, we have a stretch of road refered to as
'Magnetic Hill'. People come from all over to park their car, turn off the engine and watch the car go 'uphill'. It is a natural optical illusion, caused by the surrounding landscape and terrain but confuses many people. Is it possible that your CRZ was NOT parked on the level and simply rolled ? |
