Thanks for all the candid discussion on this. We should always consider what can happen and have a plan. In this case the E-Brake applied promptly was key. Your quick thinking was commendable.

Thanks for putting forward this incident and allowing the ensuing discussion. I hope we can all gain from it. I have not experienced any unusual behavior with my IMA system
in 15,000 miles, yet I should not forget that these cars are not just the typical
Engine - Clutch - Transmission - Drive Train
There is software in the Loop and this can result in other "features".
(Maybe it is time to go get my recall upgrade?) K

And you didn't have your e-brake engaged?

That's where Honda hung up on you right?
with this post I will get defensive. are you an arse? did you not read all most post. you sir can not tell me what I did or did not do. I respectively "listen" to what other have written. I maybe a n00b to the MT but like all things there is room to learn. so go walk off a short pier.

I can understand nCftm's frustration with the responses, so I felt it appropriate to go on (another) tirade.

People that flame on and want to bash other people, are the reason why other people don't want to post their questions/problems/observations. It's one of the reasons why, at this moment, there are 175 forum members online, yet only a handful of posts.

My advice to people that want to continue the bashing: you've all been in the same position, confronted with a problem caused by your inexperience.

Don't tell me you haven't, because that's what makes us human. It's through problems we come out stronger.

So I'm going to relate a humble story...ya'll can follow suit if you want. I recently installed the intake on my car and dropped an allen wrench and hose clamp in the engine compartment. I took the opportunity to remove the bumper so I could relocate my horn, and promptly forgot to re-wire the horn. This was, of course, unplanned and rather inconvenient, and caused (another) trip to the hardware store. Then, it started raining. I should have known better, but the part came in and I was as excited as a turkey after Thanksgiving to get it installed. Well, my rain-soaked ass got a cold, the car's air dam was half off, and the intake was half on, and my horn didn't work. I drove my 2001 beater into work the next day, sick, miserable and pissed at myself.

Lessons learned: I need to buy a house with a 2 car garage

Truth.
Keyboard Thugg'n will not get one too far here. Especially with only 19 post in.

And on the other end, having a thick skin is sometimes a positive attribute.

Post away.. It's great forum. But just a forum.

Back to topic.

honda service was unable to find anything electrical or mechanical. tomorrow i will try to see if i can cause the action in a control environment ie in the middle of the desert. doing what i did. and the suggested what ifs. im also going to see if the car is in neutral and off rolling back (pushing) will might cause a "charge" on the ima. so if i turn it on will the car move forward. and then in gear.

I apologize for my rudeness that was in civilized of me, I do not wish to be a negative impact to this forum.

Saying user error is honda's fault will negatively impact this forum as well.

I am open to the idea that the car has problems, is that what happened? No.
