Change it NOW. It is due when code 3 appears. It's really easy to change too. Easier than oil.
I have a little experience with this CVT, as it is the same as on my 2010 Insight. The oil turns dark at about 10k miles and it gets worse from there. Personally, I'm going on a 10k program for my CVT fluid and filter. Pardon the rant, but insist on changing the filter too. Not an internal filter, but an inline filter between the CVT and the radiator. Honda does not have a time change for it, so some dealers aren't even aware of it. If you don't change this filter, you are taking away the cooling of the CVT fluid. If you do your own oil changes, you can add CVT fluid and filter and it will only take an extra 10 minutes. Buy 4 qts of Honda CVT fluid, as it will take 3 qts plus a little from bottle 4. |
