I haven't read this whole thread, but my cousin has an AEM Cold Air Intake on his RSX and he ran into this problem. Turns out there's a little arm by the firewall that moves when you shift in the engine bay, and it was hitting the piping for the cold air intake.

If whoever has this problem drives the 6MT and has a cold air intake on it, try having someone shift your car while stopped and look in the engine bay to see if you find the same problem.

Thats what I thought it may be. My old car I turbocharged had that issue if I wasn't careful. Had to bend the lines a tiny bit to clear my interloper piping. I'm stock and having this issue. I noticed I had the problem when I had my climate control on and in neutral and tried to get it into first. It's still a little notchy sometimes, but, rarely gave a problem anymore

After I autostop I sometimes have the issue with resistance of the car going into first but once I put it back into neutral she drops right in, I looked deeper into it and sometimes it can be someone putting the wrong lubercant in the manual gear box , only use 10w30 engine oil , anything heavier will possibly blow seals
