Today though, I was on a mild downhill grade while in auto stop, and hit 9-10mph before I let go of the brake. The engine kicked in with a mild lurch. It definitely wasn't as smooth as when I cancel auto stop from 0-6mph. Anyhow, you guys think it would be better if I'm going downhill in autostop... to brake until I get to the 0-6mph range before letting the engine restart again? Iono... common sense tells me I should reduce the speed before restarting the engine. (Wish I knew enough about cars and engines to answer these questions myself... but thanks for all your patience. )

Mine never starts back rough when I do that. There is a hill on my way to work that you have to slow way down before turning, so I slow down to less than 20 to get Auto-Stop to shut it down, then just barely press enough on the brake to keep it stopped while going down the hill. Sometimes I reach 50+ MPH before I start it back, it is smooth every time.

perhaps its because your driving a CVT? the clutch re-engages at a different speed than the wheels...
maybe autostop in neutral is better? (actually idk how auto stop works in cvt if it would even work when ur in neutral gear).. but that may be your solution. |
