well, the theory is that like the motor the Transmission has a break in period. During this period there may be metal shavings etc in the fluid. Some advocate changing it but for the most part a lot of cars dont get this done until the service interval. Its up to you whether you want to change it.
I know the TSX transmission didnt like any other fluid but the one supplied by Honda. If you bring it to another shop to get it changed I would suggest you stop by a honda parts department, buy the fluid and bring it to the shop yourself unless someone can shed light on the different fluids and what will be safe. I dont remember what my last one cost me. |

I think it makes more of a difference when you have an automatic tranny compared to a manual. I think with a manual its basically just for lubing the gears and such as to an automatic its using the fluid for pressure and lube so it should be changed every 15k miles or so. I could be wrong and if so shed some light on me...

Oh, I didn't realize it was for an Automatic transmission. Yeah, that's about right @ 150 bucks. Yet another reason I buy manuals. I can do the crap myself in 10 minutes and it costs like 10 bucks.
