Default Transmission type

Does anyone know what kind of transmission will be offered in the CRZ? Are hybrids primarily one type of transmission or is there auto/manual options?

It will likely be very similar to the current Honda Insights transmission - a Continous Variable Transmission, aka CVT.

A little info about the transmission from Honda.com:

"Similar to an automatic transmission, CVT is an advanced transmission that substitutes the gears found in more traditional transmissions and replaces them with a metal push-belt running between a pair of variable-width pulleys"

However, anything is possible with the CR-Z. Honda could very well have a different option up their sleeve.

Does anyone know if these type of automatic transmission have the sport shift options? You know, the type with the paddles on the steering wheel.

Came across an interesting article today on MotorTrend.com, quoting a senior engineer working on the CR-Z:

Quote:
It must be fun to drive, must remind you of the original CR-X. CVT is fine for the market, mostly. But we are Honda! We must have a manual!
Sounds very promising that a manual transmission is going to be offered!!

Manual tranny would be a great additional feature for this car, let alone the many others

I had a friend with a Ferrari also a couple with Porsche's and the consensus was that paddles burn clutches 10X faster than a normal manual shifter.

Be careful what you wish for.
