The motor was about to fly out of the bay. Probably losing like 10hp in all that movement alone. Time to call Hasport! Lol.

Would it eventually destroy the motor mounts due to the rotation that the turbo was causing?

Eventually but poly or solid mounts would be better than stock, in regards to the motor moving anyways.

Bisimoto said theirs would go into production this month. Don't know if there has been changes though.
