Default Another track day vid in the GF's CR-Z

Went to Streets of Willow in Rosamond, CA a few weeks ago. I had done a session in the CR-Z back in late July or early August with a heavier rim/tire combo and got 1:38.7-ish. First time track driving the CR-Z. Was hoping lower temps, more exp. and lighter shoes this time would help out and they sure did! 1:35.25x! This is about the average time I see from most 8th gen Civic Si's in SoCal. Straight line speed is again, laughable, but maneuverability and braking favors the CR-Z hands down.

Track Day. $140

Gasoline. $70

Point by from a Dodge Viper ACR in a near stock CR-Z? Priceless.

Track days are awesome! But that Viper wasn't even racing, so I wouldn't call it "priceless."

Oh I know it wasn't racing. None of us were. It's an HPDE. It's just not a car you expect giving a point by to a mere "hybrid". Gravy training the point by given to the Camaro SS and all. Lol. It was a pure beast on the straights though. I guess everything is when you're in a Z.

Very nice, consistent driving with good lines! I don't know if you have other tracking equipment to tell you this, but for your best lap I calculated an average lap speed of just over 113 mph. Nice!

I swear the car has another second or two in it if I could take the VSA off but apparently you can only mate a single set of TPMS sensors to a car so the track wheels will not be getting any sensors. Without TPMS sensors you can't turn off VSA. You can see I lose a lot of speed on the left after the front straight as the VSA cuts power as I oversteer. Same goes for the back straight.

FYI, I maxed out at about 84-85 mph actually. Maybe 1 or 2 more mph if the tire sidewall is shorter than stock, shortening gearing. I make 113-115 in my 300+hp Civic o this course though! Hope everybody brings their Z out to the track at least a few times. It really is a capable vehicle. If a "hotter" CR-Z is coming out it'll be beastly on the track.

you can switch sensors but the car has to be reprogrammed.

Get an ATEQ TPM Quickset Tool to deal with TPMS. About $150 but you use it for rotating tires, changing them at the track and swapping summer/winter tires. Well worth it.

Which one did you get? According to their chart they don't have any thing or code for the CR-Z or any Honda past 09. I'm guessing their website is just out of date but want to be sure.

I have the ATEC TPMS Quickset Basic (the one pictured in the link). I wonder if they still make it as the ATEC site doesn't seen to list it for sale. However, Revolution Supply still lists them as does ATEC Canada. But it looks like these are becomming hard to get.

It doesn't list the CR-Z but the Civic configuration works just fine (I think most Honda's use the same set of commands).

Since getting it last spring (and having the dealer set up the new 17" wheels for 99$ since I didn't know the IDs), I have rotated the summer (17") tires, swapped the stock (winter) wheels back on for a long trip, put the summer tires back on for autox and then reinstalled the winter tires for the rest of the year. I'll put the summer setup (with new tires) back on in March for autox.

Works great and it has already paid for itself since Honda has such a picky TPMS.
