I agree than the MINI is a great car to drive but only when it's not in the shop. So the CR-Z is the best second choice.

from GRM? I'd assume the mini holds far more grip and is a bit easier to drive at the limit. GRM liked the car, but I think they caved to their readership's "a crx is faster" cries. They forget a stock CRX was basically no faster than the CRZ.

for a review group called "everyday driver" they should care about the next three words when it comes to the Mini; Reliability and Premium Gas! the reliability issues are sort of a dark side people only realize when they buy a mini and after a few thousand miles your back at your dealer checking the weird noises coming from your engine. but the premium gas thing is just a deal breaker for me, not only is the Cr-z amazingly more fuel efficient when driven properly, it will save you big bucks simply because it uses regular gas and even if you maniac it up you will still register solid 30 mpg's, good luck doing that in the mini... and if you drive your mini like that you should probably schedule that warranty claim in advance...

Well, the Mini is a BMW for starters. Complete with plastic...everything.
BMW likes to brag about their reliability, but next time you are out try counting how many e36 or even e46 chassis you see around anymore. Too expensive to maintain, and the recurring problems with the brand simply aren't addressed by the manufacturer. CRZ seems like a much more substantial car than the Mini IMO. |
