So I have been trying to follow the progression of the supercharger vs. turbo progression, but I haven't found any information to really target the root of my question. I, personally, would choose a turbo over a SC, but it seems like there could be some danger choosing a turbo with the auto stop feature. It is my understanding that turbo timers exist b/c leaving hot or heated oil near the impeller blades can destroy a turbo. First, is this, in fact, the reason for turbo timers keeping a car running at idle for a few minutes? Second, if that is the case, wouldn't the auto stop feature have the opposite (and negative) effect? I know that there are ways to ensure that your engine never auto stops, but, from a MT stand point, the only way to do that concerns high use of the a/c which I know robs power.
